What our customers say about their holidays

On arrival the front of the property did not live up to the picture provide.
On entry things improved but the fire starter kit was non exiting 4 logs half a fire lighter and some paper this would not of lit a fire so the first thing we had to do was drive down to the local garage for logs kindling and coal though we would of done this the next day after travelling it was the last thing we wanted to do. The larger sofa in the lounge was very uncomfortable and really needs replacing the smaller sofa was fine. However, we used the main bedroom and the mattress on this bed has collapse and was very uncomfortable and we left early as we both had bad backs from it. The main bathroom was fine but the shower curtain was yellow at the bottom so need replaced or a good bleaching as it was my husband struggled with the height he is 6â 1â so we then had to revert to using the the en-suite shower in the other bedroom, did feel quilty using 2 bathrooms but had no choice. The kitchen had everything you would need but again is very very tired looking. Saying that the cottage has a lovely cosy feel and with a little upgrading could be lovely.

The cottage was beautiful however, due to a power cut 2 hours into our holiday we were without any electric, heating or phone connections for the whole 3 days!
!!! We have stayed at this property before, so we are aware that the owner only lives 3-4 minutes away, however they never bothered to check if we were ok. The whole of the village was without power, so they would have been aware. There was no torch or candles left and no wood for the log burner, which would have been the only form of heat we had, the temperature got down to minus 3. All of the food we had taken went off, due to having no electricity, so that was £75 worth of food gone!!! All we had was bread but nothing to put on it, as the butter had gone off!!! We were unable to call the people who had dropped us off to come and collect us, so we had no option but to stay until we were picked up 3 days later. All in all, it was an absolute disgrace and no offer of any kind of recompense!!!

There were 7 adults in the party, 3 couples plus one single person and a husky.
We found the Cheviot Hills and Wooler to be an excellent location for our different interests. We are walkers, birders, historians and shoppers and all found something to suit our tastes. The house was clean, warm, comfortable and plenty large enough with four good size bedrooms downstairs and 4 bathrooms ( 2 en suite). The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge and dining room easily large enough for all of us. It was a pleasure to sit out on the decking, and in the hot tub, with views over the town and of the surrounding hills. The town has a range of shops and food establishments that will cater for most needs. There was so much for us to see and do in the area. We would be happy to go back for another holiday there and do the things we didnât have time for on this holiday.

After our horrendous experience with the Sykes cottage rental at Shooterâs Lodge, Wem, Shropshire last year, we were not looking forward to this rental but it had been transferred from a pre-Covid booking.
However, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Akeld Cottage. Our only concerns were; 1. In the description of the cottage, there was no mention of the garden not being private, as one of the windows from the adjoining cottage was within the boundary of Akeld Cottage garden, which encroached on our privacy. It was a shock to see a face looking out at us. 2. Although the cottage was quaint, comfy and relatively clean, there were some areas that required attention I.e. rugs needed shampooing or replacing, Kitchen Lino was buckled in places. Having said this, the cottage was very well equipped with a brilliant Welcome Pack, comfortable beds, stunning views and beautiful area.

The house is lovely and large, great for four adults two children and two dogs.
Smelt lovely when we walked in and the house was very clean. The gravel garden is smaller than we originally thought, however it was ok for us as we were out all day. Area is very quiet, ideal on the edge of the village to walk into. Parking outside or car park opposite. Great sized kitchen with plenty of utensils and equipment including dishwasher, toaster, microwave etc. Nice size dining room. Beds very comfortable. Towels lovely and thick and a very good size. As a family we had a fantastic stay at Stewart House and would recommend. It is a good 30 minutes drive to the beach. However you are surrounded by beautiful walks on the doorstep
