What our customers say about their holidays

“We had a wonderful week at Pengarth Cottage for February half term. Michael was really accommodating and allowed us to have a Sunday changeover at the last minute which we really appreciated. He checked in with us in advance to make sure we had all the information we needed and to tell us about the house and the local area. On arriving the house was warm and cosy and we were especially grateful for the beds already being made up and plenty of fresh towels available. The views from the master bedroom are stunning - you can practically count the beach huts on Abersoch main beach. Watching the sun set from the Juliet balcony was a highlight. In the evenings a glass of wine in front of the log burner was a perfect way to end the day. There were toilet rolls, tea, coffee, crisps and a few dishwasher and washing machine tablets to get us started before we were able to get to the shops which helped us out a lot. It was great to have all the appliances which were in good working order and which made this a home away from home. Our children and little dog especially loved the garden which, again, has the most incredible views. Thank you so much for a great stay. “ Best regards, Maria

Comfortable, modern and clean and generally a lovely place to stay.
The outside could do with some care and modernisation to be in keeping with the neighbouring houses and area as it was a bit of a heart-sink as we drove up. Of note, the information on line does not make it clear that the adjoining bedroom (twin) is literally that. Adjoined to another bedroom with no access to bathroom or landing. This might be less important if you have put your young children in there but absolutely inappropriate if you are booking this house for adult couples. We had planned to use the twin so our adult children and partners could have the doubles. It was inappropriate for us to have to go through their bedroom for the toilet and so I ended up downstairs in the single room with my husband on the floor on a mattress in there with me. There is also a problem with the window frame in the single room and the wind whistles all night. As my husband is elderly and I have physical health conditions it impacted on the enjoyment of our holiday; knowing we had to be in the single room in cramped conditions with the noise of the wind all night. We think this house is great for a family with small children but a no-no for adult couples.

Notwithstanding the issues we had with the property it is well positioned and in the right circumstances would be good.
2 sets of major blinds advised to us as broken on the way to the property did NOT get repaired as expected during our stay. The maintenance guys could not sort. The owner advised he would sort it - they stayed broken for the visit. Heating did not work for first 36 hours. Owner fixed it but the thermostat is tricky and luck is needed to adjust / switch the heating on. The building work started on the 3 day of our visit. Next door had a new drive way out in - not advised pre booking. Apparently this happens and we are simply unlucky it was our week! The reality was the property was unusable for 5 days of our visit between 8am the start and about 5.30 the builders end point. The owner has offered us 10% off the next time we book as compensation - we assumed there was a level of irony here. Sykes were no help - their mate since guy could not fix issues and washed their hands of anything that happened outside the property. Good luck with any oneâs week here as if you have an âunluckyâ week like is neither the owner or Sykes seemingly care.

My husband and I spent a delightful last week of October at Pengarth Cottage. We were more than happy with our choice. The location - up above Abersoch and close to the golf course - was ideal. The views from the master bedroom with en suite were unforgettable and changed with the changing weather. Here we were also in luck as the sun shone and the rain mostly kept at bay. The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. Loved walking bare foot on the skate kitchen floor which was underfloor heated. The log burner fire in the comfortable lounge was used on a couple of evenings and we enjoyed the simple pleasure of watching the logs flame. The garden is beautiful but at this time of the year we were unable to take advantage of the sun loungers, bbq, and log burner. Another time at another season. The walk into Abersoch across the golf course was not different and saved having to take the car every time. Plenty to visit in the region. 5* recommendation.

This is our second stay at Min Y Nant.
We love the position, views and the short 10 minute stroll to the beach. Itâs only 3 minutes to the Spa supermarket and 10 to 15 minutes to the centre of Abersoch where there are numerous places to eat and drink most being dog friendly. The house is spacious, light, and well maintained. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of crockery, glass wear and a broad range of utensils and cookware. Super bosh dishwasher and a washing machine. The open plan lounge and kitchen is delightful, great for the whole family. The beds are amazingly comfortable and bedrooms are tastefully decorated. Min Y Nant is clearly a well loved family holiday home and the owners have taken great care to establish a seaside theme with very tasteful local paintings, photos and ornaments reminding you that you are on holiday and right by the sea! We were lucky with our weather in October making the most of the coastal and headland walks! A wonderful stay thank you!
