What our customers say about their holidays
Dawn - Verified booking
This is a lovely property in a great location and we would return BUT we found it dirty and in need of some attention.
The property smelt generally musty. There was dust, cobwebs and dirt throughout. Tables were marked and sticky. Duvet covers had buttons missing, mould was evident in various places, there were light bulbs out (we replaced a few from the kitchen drawer), ill fitting doors, a missing lamp shade, no pillow protectors used at all. Spare pillows provided without pillow cases. Light pull cords were black and disgusting. There were cigarette butts outside the back door. One velux window appears to have a piece of snooker cue attached by a jubilee clip hanging from it by way of an opener. One ceiling rose was hanging off. One of the living room curtains was hanging off the rail. Things future guests need to know! There were no non-slip areas or mats in any of the baths or showers and the tiled floors were very slippery when wet too so take your own non-slip mats. The towels supplied were too small and suitable only for children. We used our beach towels for showering. The bottom bunk in the family room was very close to the top one and our tiny 4 year old struggled to sit up without banging her head so may not be suitable for older children. The garden picnic table seated 6 adults at best and was tired, wonky and listed dreadfully when anyone stood up. We used our own chairs and the children sat on picnic blankets to allow us all to sit together to eat outside. The heating canât be turned off only down and coupled with the thick quilts it was too hot for august and made sleeping difficult even with all the windows open. There is only 1 wardrobe in the property for 10 people. Two bedrooms have makeshift hanging rails which arenât really fit for purpose and one had nothing. There were no bin bags supplied and youâll need to take the large swing bin size. The info in the folder regarding rubbish collection is wrong. Both bins were emptied on Monday not one Monday and one Thursday. The wifi is patchy at best with 10 people in the house and doesnât seem to reach upstairs. Despite all of the negatives this house is a great holiday home, thereâs virtually no passing traffic, the location is wonderful and the garden is gorgeous. The indoor furniture, mattresses and carpets were nice quality and it was lovely to get all 10 of us round one table! The three large sofas provide comfortable seating for everyone. Thereâs a great washer-dryer and a good size dishwasher. Two fridges are a great idea. Thereâs evidence of some recent decoration so we presumed that it is a work in progress and the real issue lies with a poor cleaning and maintenance service and before being asked, the reason we didnât contact the owners during our stay is that we didnât want to waste precious family time dealing with this or face a confrontation. We simply cleaned and tidied what we could and lived with the rest. We would all stay again and hopefully most of the issues would have been resolved. This isnât the first review highlighting problems with cleanliness but I really hope itâs the last. We paid a lot of money and this was a very important milestone holiday for our family and it was a shame the same issues from a review in aug 2022 are ongoing.

The property is a nice size, with a nice living space and dining area.
The recliner chairs were a great plus we loved those. We loved that we could park the car outside the property. The bedroom was lovely size. The bathroom was nice but the floor was very creaky which echoed round the whole cottage. On arrival it was a shame we wasnât greeted by the host. We then didnât see/ get introduced to the host until day 3 which was disappointing as it would have been nice to meet her sooner and also would have been useful to know where we could find her if we needed anything. There were no instructions on how to use anything in the property. Having been to lots of Airbnbâs in the past it is normal for there to be some instructions on how to use the tv, heating, etc and also there was no instructions on how the bins/ recycling work in the property. Every area is different so it is helpful to be informed. It was disappointing that on the 1st night the hot tub was not ready. I had messaged the host prior to arrival to ensure the hot tub would be ready and I was ensured it would be. Considering when we arrived it was peak of a fortnight of beautiful weather in Wales it was a shame that the outside furniture was dirty when we arrived and also that the umbrella was also broken. We let the host know this and she ordered a new one but this was no use to us as it didnât arrive in time. I know the property was self catering but in every self catering property Iâve visited we have had spare bin bags, extra toilet roll and salt and pepper. This property didnât have any of these things. They are very cheap things to improve on but make all the difference to your guests stay. As the property is self catering it is a shame the fridge is not bigger. We had done a food shop for our whole week at the cottage and struggled to fit it all in the tiny fridge. I also found the fridge not to work that great. Some of our food went off whilst in the fridge (even though the food was still in date) and also the opposite too some of our drinks came out frozen. We ensured that the fridge temperature was always on 3 so it was not that. The double bedroom duvet was a feather one which almost instantly brought me out in a rash so we had to use the two single duvets in the twin room. It was a shame there wasnât a spare normal double duvet somewhere we could use. The mattress was also not the most comfortable and it seemed to dip in the middle. We had a nice week exploring Wales and using the cottage as a base. The cottage had beautiful views of the sunset in the evening. And when the hot tub was working it was lovely to sit out there and watch it.

Arrived after 3hr journey and was met by the owners who were in the process of cleaning out the Hot tub after the previous occupants had left.
This made me feel reassured what with the current covid 19 situation. We were allowed to access the property straight away and as soon as we entered the accommodation we were blown away with the lay out and attention paid to making it comfortable. Everything looked really clean. Wifi access codes were provided for 2 appliances per code. Plenty of room for the 4 of us in our party. Fresh eggs were available when we needed them as the owners have about 24 hens on site that produce free range eggs ( Just don't leave the front door open otherwise you have feathered house guests) We used the Hot tub on the second night and it was pure bliss. Really warm and the jets did the job of relaxing the muscles. Overall this was just an amazing weeks break but it felt like home. The owners are really friendly and the view of Shell island is just breathtaking. Would highly recommend and will definitely be booking another visit soon. If there is one thing that we wish we could change it was the Freezer. The freezer just wasn't big enough to store anything other than a bag of ice, Due to the current situation there aren't many places open that can deliver takeaway and most of the local restaurants are still closed so needed to shop at tescos in Porthmadog for fresh produce.

We recently stayed at the beautiful Isallt and wow!
We have visited north Wales many times and this is hands down the best place we've stayed for so many reasons! The cottage itself was very clean, tidy, lots of space, everything you could possibly need- cutlery, plates, washing up items, towels, the list goes on. Best shower ever! All the beds were very comfortable, the main bed being exceptional! Very lovely decor, nice and cosy, and love the little homely touches around! It is also situated on a working farm which was lovely, our 5 year old daughter loved seeing the animals around and the tractor! Hot tub outside was just glorious to unwind in after a busy day! There was also lots of things near by, shops, food places, Harlech castle! And a wonderful beach pretty much opposite, our daughter enjoyed collecting many shells from there, as well as me and my partner of 10years getting engaged whilst there!! Was a wonderful day with exceptional views all around! Highly recommend this property and we will be back for definite, thanks for a brilliant stay!
