What our customers say about their holidays

We absolutely love this apartment.
From the second you open the door it is so fresh, light and spotlessly clean. This was our second stay at 2 Spindrift. I like to have a week in Cornwall with all the family then a week to relax. Rolling up the blind in the mornings to the crashing waves is magnificent, as is watching the breathtaking sunsets. Just a hop across the road and down the steps to Whipsiderry, great beach for surfing or body boarding, or a short walk down the hill to Porth. We were lucky enough to see two large starfish in shallow rock pools at Whipsiderry this year. When the tide is out you can walk all the way to Watergate Bay. If holidaying without a car or just wanting a rest from driving, the 56 Newquay to Padstow bus stops just outside the door. Newquay is also within reasonable walking distance for the fit. The apartment itself is so well equipped that it has everything you could possibly think of and more. The decor, in keeping with the period of the building is a nice touch. It is so obviously cared about as are the people who stay there. Very comfortable beds and crisp, white linen. I always feel very indulgent with my own en-suite bathroom. Lashings of hot water. There is also a tap outside to rinse off sand and wetsuits. Hose attachment in cupboard. We love the walled garden which is a great little suntrap. I don't know who this terrible neighbour is as mentioned in previous review but the lady above was very nice and friendly on the rare occasion we crossed paths. We didn't see anyone else. It was very peaceful. To sum up, whether it's country walks (huge pine cones up the lane), walking the coast path, bat watching, braving the surf or snapping the action from the safety of the cliff.....or not so safe feeling from the bridge when the sea is rough, more exhilaratingly scary : D... or just watching the ever changing sea and sky from the comfort of this wonderful apartment, I don't think you could ask for more.

This is a characterful cottage in an ideal location for exploring the northern beaches of Cornwall, close to Newquay and Padstow, located in a lovely village with a great beach only a 5 minute drive away.
Nearby airport is not an issue. The cottage is well equipped for any holiday, lovely large open fireplace in lounge, good sized kitchen which is part of an extension, great utility room which would be great for coming back to, after a wet day out, nice use of surfboards to decorate the property along with some nice artwork on the walls, great large dining room table, large wet room downstairs with OK shower (though slow to drain) nice garden space at the front of the property. The house is let down by being tired in places - upstairs bathroom is desperately in need of an update eg. Discoloured toilet seat making you feel uncomfortable and clearly there used to be a shower over bath but is now a hand held shower, red sofa in lounge has clearly seen better days, carpets have a grubby feel, the two fridges both look old eg no door trays in kitchen fridge suggesting they were broken, strange use of wooden boxes in fire place, no welcome guide to tell you what to do with recycling waste or where your nearest GP, vet is etc. Overall this was a good place to explore the beauty of Cornwall in a cottage that grows on you over the week despite it being tired in places and in need of an update. Thanks to our hosts.

The property was lovely and very clean however we had a couple of small issues.
We found that some of the facilities were a little tired such as the microwave (the door button became stuck many times) and the blinds in the garden bedroom (it came unthreaded and had to be redone) We also were not send any information as to how to enter our property.... We emailed as we're were told to do with a time of our arrival but no one responded and we didn't know the keycode to enter property which resulted in us knocking on next door to ask how they had got in. As it happened the keycode was still plumbed in to the keysafe but this was not ideal when it was 6.30pm and we had waited all day to arrive. We then had to go and get shopping afterwards. As we were not personally met I do believe that an earlier let in time would've been better. Lastly providing some basics such as sugar, binbags would've been helpful as lovely as it was to have tea and coffee pods and some milk, we couldn't use them until we had been shopping. Overall the stay was lovely but not ideal for family's as there isn't really an outdoor area for them to play in and being so isolated means that there are no parks nearby. They did enjoy the pillow chocolates and thought the place was lovely to stay in as did we.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lost Barn, it was an absolutely lovely place to stay and we were lucky enough to have a whole week.
Perfect location and we easily found our way around. We visited Watergate, Padstow, Newquay which were all very near. We took our 2 Frenchies and visited all the beaches which were amazing. The Lost Barn had everything your own home has. We took tea towels, kitchen sponges, dishwasher tablets etc but all was supplied for us. Bedding and towels were lovely and the house is very clean, we couldnât fault it. Lovely little village and Phil the owner told us about the local walk which was really lovely and very close. An amazing hamper was left for our arrival and was appreciated as it had all kinds of goodies. In fact the only negative for us was the sofa. Although it looks lovely, it was a bit uncomfortable for two people wanting a lounge about afternoon in front of the tv. We would definitely go back to stay here, in fact I look for the same week next year but the dates have not been released yet, I will keep checking though:-)))))

We had a great stay at the Lost Barn.
It was impeccably clean, has comfortable beds and everything you could need. We really appreciated the hamper of Cornish goodies left for us on arrival, which we took bits and pieces from for picnics out throughout the week. The stairs are quite steep - we brought a pressure fit stair gate with us as we were visiting with our 2 year old and Iâm glad we did, as it gave us extra peace of mind while he was upstairs that he wouldnât fall and hurt himself. I wonder if this is something that could be provided by the owners in future, as a relatively cheap, simple improvement that you donât see often in holiday cottages. The location is also brilliant. We enjoyed great days out at Heligan, Rock, Perranporth, Lappa Valley and Lanhydrock, and a fantastic meal at the St Kew Inn near Wadebridge (recommend booking ahead!). We will definitely recommend to others to stay here and would come back! Thanks!
