What our customers say about their holidays

Just had 9 nights here.
A very peaceful and secluded spot to relax in. I'm going to start with the negatives first. I've done this as these were things that set the tone for the rest of our stay. I hope the owners take this as a constructive offering as this place has the capacity to be better than it currently is. First! Please don't say on the description that there will be a starter pack for the log burner and not supply one. The cottage was understandably cold on the first evening and the nearest supply point for wood is 8 miles away. When you arrive late on a Saturday, expecting to find supplies, it can be a bit disheartening. Toilet roll. There was half a roll of "economy" toilet roll in the property. I'm not suggesting that it should be stocked like Tesco, but it might be nice if there were at least one full roll. The grill pan doesn't fit the grill - it's too small ! It may have been replaced at some point but please make sure it will sit in its rails! The information manual needs a little update. The instructions for the log burner don't match what's there! It's actually really easy to use! Some simple instructions for the TV remotes would help. 3 remotes for one screen is a bit confusing. We figured it after a day or so but a little help would have been appreciated. Last. The downstairs bedroom smells of damp. The room ( like the rest of the cottage ) was clean upon arrival, but there is evidence of damp in the wardrobes. If these things can be sorted, then it will move up from average to very good. Now some positives! It's very, very quiet!! The kitchen is pretty well equipped and crockery and microwave all looked new. Great fridge / freezer! Bathroom is pleasant and the beds are comfy with good quality bedding. The views over the river are wonderful and the patio area will be superb when the weather is right. When lit, the log burner gives off an amazing amount of heat and logs last several hours if the flue is kept almost closed. The coffee shop / cafe / corner shop which is opposite the pub is a wonderful little place with friendly staff and worth going in more than once. Can't comment on the pub as it was closed during the Christmas week but there seem to be favourable reviews on line. Would we go back? Yes, if the little glitches are sorted. Dave & Karen

The property is in the most gorgeous setting and the views are wonderful.
Sitting out on the patio wrapped up all cosy in those very comfortable chairs will be a fond memory of mine forever now. We were lucky to have experienced the fighter jets fly through the valley while we were sitting out. The property is very comfortable and you can tell that a lot of love and work is being put into it. We loved having the log burner on and getting cosy. The kitchen is equipped well enough. The bathroom is lovely. You could spend ages on that loo looking out at the views! Lol We never had issues with parking on the street but if you bring a lot of stuff with you be mindful that you'll have to carry it all a bit of a way down to the property. Tip: have a little torch with you if it's dark. Now for the not so good... There are some issues but it's an old house and to be expected I think. As we entered the property on first arrival there was an overwhelming smell of damp and there is some damp in the bedroom wardrobe. (I purchased a condensation thing from home bargains and left it in there to help). Unfortunately also on arrival it seemed that the property had not been fully cleaned. The beds were clean and changed but all the surfaces hadn't been done and were dirty & dusty and it hadn't been hoovered. Sykes took so long getting back to me about this and not very nice when they did and I didn't want to spoil my trip so I gave up and bought a broom and cleaning wipes and sorted it all myself. That aside, I really thought the property was wonderful and I would definitely book again.

What an absolute Gem!
Canât say enough good things about the property and equally importantly the land it sits in and around. The house has been restored with great care and the attention to details shines through in every room. The documents showing the renovations shed some light on exactly how much time, effort and money went into bringing the farmhouse back to life. All of the owners fields are gated and fully accessible and thereâs benches down by the beautiful river where you can also take a wild dip if you feel inclined (we did). Walk out the door and across the road following the pathway and youâre launched into 500 acres of wild Brecon Landscape where youâre free to roam, or drive 5 mins away 8th the MOD owned land and youâre treated to a spectacular mountain pass. On our stay we struck out as far as New Quay to watch dolphins and also climbed Pen Y Fan on the Horseshoe Loop then took in the Waterfall Walks. Every day was made more perfect by arriving back at the Farmhouse and as youâre only 10-15 mins from Brecon, shops and restaurants are all in striking distance. Donât hesitate to book, you wonât be disappointed and if you get the opportunity have a chat with the owners and locals, theyâre great people who are warm and welcoming.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this holiday property near Beacon.
From the moment we arrived, it was clear that a lot of thought and care had gone into making this a perfect retreat for families and groups. The facilities were truly exceptional. The property was spotless, beautifully furnished, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen had all the essentials (and more!), making it easy to prepare meals. The spacious lounge and cozy bedrooms made it feel like a home away from home. The highlight for us, though, was the brilliant games room! It was a hit with both the kids and adults. From table tennis to pool and board games, there was something for everyone. It kept the children entertained for hours, and we enjoyed some friendly competition ourselves. The location was another bonusâclose to Beacon, with plenty of nearby attractions and scenic walks to explore. It was the perfect balance of peaceful countryside and access to local amenities. We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing holiday. Weâll definitely be back!

What a fantastic house & excellent host.
Beautiful setting, luxury fixtures & fittings, every need catered for , for all ages from the outside park, the outside was totally enclosed & safe, the huge games room with a log fine which was a massive hit with us all, where we spent every evening. If youâre looking for a family break for grandparents, children & grandchildren look no further. There is a big lounge area, snug, not forgetting the fabulous kitchen so everyone is catered for. The surrounding area offers lovely walks, nearby the Brecon canal boats where we rented a self drive boat for 8 & also an outdoor activity centre where we all spent a fun filled afternoon attempting some archery. We made some happy precious memories during our stay, so a big thank you to Robert our host for sharing this beautiful house.
