What our customers say about their holidays

Having stayed in St Ives on a number of previous occasions, Flat 1, 4 Fernlea Terrace was very pleasant to stay in. The views from the loung/dining room are among the best in St. Ives. So good that some may be content to watch the beaches from the flat rather than going out if the weather is poor. Located near the Malakoff bus terminus, the flat is easy to get to, but, after a 12-hour journey was not obvious which door to use to access the flat, which is next door to Tea and Coast. We let Marina at Cornish Horizons office know this when we asked for a change of bed linen after the the first week, who was very friendly and helpful, offering to updte the access instructions & provided a delivery of fresh linen. The galley kitchen is well-equipped and laid out with everything close to hand. Free wifi is excellent, plus there are USB charging sockets in the lounge & kitchen (there may be others that we didn't notice). Whilst we had no problems with the location, those with restricted mobility may find climbing Tregenna Hill, Skidden Hill & the entrance stairs a challenge, but the views from the flat more than compensate. One issue, that we did anticipate as we live in a quiet village, was traffic noise in the double room that faces Tregenna Hill. Especially at weekends during the September Festival we were awakened by loud vehicles / motorcycles in the early hours. Our solution was to use "Bio Ears" mouldable earplugs - available from Boots chemist in St Ives. It may be possible to mitigate some traffic noise if the owners could site the double bed against the wall facing the window. Also, during the festival, street lighting was intrusive, which could be a problem for some who may choose to wear an eye-mask, or be reduced by fitting a pelmet / blackout blinds / curtains. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the flat.

Firstly it is not clear which building the apartment is in as the building access is not in Belyars lane but the next road up The keysafe instructions are of no use!
! We could not find the box⦠no labelling, not in the position described. Had to ring the owner for more direction. He admitted its in a ridiculous position⦠Its about 9inches off the floor so very difficult to use . Old model with no visible numbers( mind you youâd have to lay on the floor to see them!!) Very very frustrating after a 7 hour journey!! Then issues to put keys back into it when we left. Couldnât get box closed and again had to ring owner. Mainly down to the position of it! Finally managed it only then the next day to be accused by the owner of putting the wrong keys in the box!! How is that possible when they were the keys we used all week to get in and out of the apartment . He said a locksmith had had to be called at a cost of £80 to fix lock . We re awaiting more detail but have not had a reply from him This has totally put a huge negative on any thoughts of staying at this place again The other negatives are no change of towels or laundry in a week. You couldnât wash what you had as no spare to use in the meantime. No iron even though there is an ironing board and no code for shed to put rubbish into although there is instruction to do that as you leave⦠yet another frustration! .. searched high and low for a code!! A lot more thought and attention needs to be put into the things above as things like key issues create stress and frustration. Very little information left about the area and most that there is is for childrenâs activities Not a property for those with limited agility as many steep hills up from the seafront and parking in St Ives is impossible We wonât be returning to this property due to the issues and accusation but will definitely return to St Ives

A lovely bright colour scheme make this apartment welcoming. The bedroom is calming and all windows in the apartment have shutters which gives it a new England feel. The bathroom has a drench shower which is perfect and then you look into the lounge and wow!! The kitchen has everything you need , absolutely everything. Again it has a new England feel and straight ahead the view from the French doors hits you! As you are up higher than the houses in front of you, you see Carbis Bay in all of its glory. You can see all of the coves in the distance like Porthkidney sands and various others that i can't name and you can watch the waves crashing into the rocks. You can see Godrevy lighthouse and watch the train below you snaking through the trees and disappearing into the tunnel. There is always something to see and it is ever-changing. There is a communal garden for the flats that you can sit in and enjoy the Peace. There are many different walks to Carbis bay, St. Ives, Lelant and others. You can walk from the apartment past the communal garden and down into Carbis bay. It takes 10 minutes or so. The View was lovely to stay in, comfortable, warm and cosy, beautiful views and with everything you could ask for. We loved it so much we are already booking for next year. ð

I asked several times before travelling down as to whether there was a iron and ironing board in the house as i had a family event to attend.
Also, as the listing mentioned a pond but didn't show any images i asked if it was covered or safe with dogs about. I heard nothing back on either of these points. There was an iron and an ironing board but the board didn't have a cover. As for the pond, really think the word pond is stretching it. It was a large puddle in a stone. My dog liked to drink from it though which i discouraged him from obviously. The garden itself was lovely and well kept. Spent many a chilled hour. It has sun all day and really is a treat for this part of Cornwall. The house was like visiting your grandparents house. It had a real family owned feel, and was generally fine. There are lots of spiders but that didn't bother us. Really think though that a double bed rather than two singles in the backroom away from traffic noise would be an idea. There was dirty linen in a bag in the bathroom, and might have brought back some creepy crawlies with us but not sure if that came from the house. I loved the kitchen feel, and liked the way you could open up the door to the garden. Equipment wise it was all fine, feel the TV could do with an upgrade. All in all at the right price we would return!
