What our customers say about their holidays

DO NOT STAY HERE.
Holiday from hell. Firstly, upon arrival the place was disgusting. Beyond disgusting. No cleaners had been sent after previous guests. The bed was ridden with dog urine, messed up and stinking, the bathroom was decorated with used, wet, smelly towels covered in dog hairs. The toilet was unflushed and dirty. The sofa was soaking wet with dog hair and smelt like urine and cigarettes. Unswept floors, crumbs on the sides, just revolting. I immediately contacted the owner, she said sheâd send out a cleaner. They made us vacate the property with our baby and child and dog, in a hurricane with torrential rain and severe winds with no on site establishment allowing dogs inside, the cleaners said it would take â a really long time â at 7pm we were able to return, cold, soaking wet and miserable, to find the place was still a mess. The smell was horrific, the childrenâs bed was damp, untouched by cleaners, false nails in the covers and under the pillows, dog hair all over the place. No toilet roll, no clean towels, no sofa to sit on as it was still soaking and smelly, At this point we requested a full refund so we could go elsewhere but weâre ignored until refused. Having used all our savings to book this place we were stuck. So we cuddled into the one bed, lay on our own towels and slept together in there. The next day I spent 4 hours deep cleaning the property as we were still be ignored and not refunded. The owner would tel us to contact Sykes and Sykes would say itâs the owner who has to sort it. Hours of phone calls, back and forth, we realised we were loosing the battle and tried to just make the most of it while we can. We still had to answer phone calls recal details and so forth. Found the cleaners stole our bag with our babies bottle inside, food, drinks, baby milk and more, who refused to acknowledge this, lied to the owner and refused to refund that also. We decided to request the first night to be refunded instead of the whole stay. That was also refused and declined. On top of all this, thereâs no oven. No cheese grater, no loo roll, no towels, no clean bedding, no cleaning tools, no basics I.e tea or coffee, no welcome booklet to tel you to book in at reception through the third management of the chalet meaning we were refused access to the pool and the food establishments The doors are faulty, the bathroom door locks itself due to a fault catch and left our 8 year old daughter locked inside screaming while had to try and break it open, the shower doors donât close properly, toilet doesnât flush properly, the door separating the living area to the bedrooms doesnât close unless slammed multiple times, the main doors leave a gap with cold air at the bottom. I could go on. We leave today and our children have rashes, one caught ring worm, weâve been bitten by fleas and to anyone wondering we would have just gone home and given up but we couldnât afford extra train tickets This was hell. And still we had no refund, no apologies, nothing. I will NEVER stay here again. Please DONT BOOK

A lovely old cottage, furniture to match its age.
Kitchen modern, could do with a small freezer as the little freezer in the fridge is so small and had not been defrosted there was not enough room for items I needed to freeze. Bedrooms clean and comfortable beds, bathroom clean the power shower brilliant. The lounge is quite dark but with the lamps on in the evening was very cosy. I brought some wood from the local shop at a very reasonable price and used the wood burner as it did get cold on the evenings, that made it even more cosier. The tv is a smart tv so plenty of choice for watching. Wifi signal good. A few downsides, the hot tap in the kitchen is just a trickle so takes ages to fill the sink to wash up, i dont use a dishwasher as there is only 2 of us. A bit of information on how the heating works would be helpful. The kitchen was surface clean but could do with a deep clean, i had to wash all pans before i could use them and some of the oven trys were very dirty. I put that down to visitors not bothering to clean them after using them but the cleaners should check them. The cupboards are full of plates etc may be far to many but that is not a problem. There were cobwebs on the inside of the bathroom windows that the cleaners had missed, again that was not a big problem for me spiders have to live somewhere. The biggest problem we encountered was the parking. The man who owns the church opposite parks his big car and van outside on the road and makes getting on and off the parking area difficult. The local pub shuts Sunday late afternoon and doesn't open again until Wednesday, that was a bit disappointing as it would have been nice to pop out for a drink on the night. Borth beach easy to reach just 3 miles down the lane off the main road. Overall had a lovely stay in the cottage. Just a bit about the garden. It was a bit over grown but accessible once the gate is closed behind you it is perfectly safe for dogs, totally enclosed. Lovely cottage lovely village. The village shop is well stocked and not over priced, and the staff are very pleasant and helpful.

The house was lovely and met our needs.
We met the cleaners when we arrived and they were so helpful with recommendations of places to visit. The cottage was very clean and well presented. (I really loved recalling memories of Posy Simmonds contributions to graphic literature). The location was spot on for us. Walks from the house; with steeper climbs than we are now used to, living in Lincolnshire. (We once used to walk around Huddersfield and the Calder Valley with child carriers and pushchairs!) Loved visiting the Osprey centre, the Red Kite feeding and RSPB reserve. Had a train trip to Barmouth - would highly recommend. Aberystwyth is lovely. Bought some excellent honey, pies and pasties from the Saturday 'market'. We went Lindy Hop dancing with the local group on Tuesday evening and they were very welcoming and accommodating. The local village shop is well stocked and friendly. Driving around this part of Wales is lovely. The 20mph sections are really not an issue here (obviously, I can't comment on other areas) but they seem to be sensible and appropriate. The only down side was we felt guilty putting on the electric radiators and we really would have liked to use the multifuel stove, but it seemed like all the shops had given up on wood at this time of year. (It was unusually windy and relatively cold as everyone will be aware this year). It would have been useful to have a stock of wood to use (and pay for). Thanks though. We had a great time on our first visit to the Welsh West coast. Not our last

A cosy, cottage style end of terrace in a small village off the main road halfway between Aber and Mach in the Dyfi biosphere area.
The property was well presented with everything clean and tidy. There are two good-sized bedrooms, a shower room with electric power shower and a comfortable lounge/dining area downstairs. Lovely modern kitchen which inexplicably lacks a microwave (for reference, the switch for the hot water is on the wall directly opposite the side door and the 'external utility' is in the back of the garage). The neighbour has access across the back of the property to reach their garden. The garden was a pleasant place to sit but is not pet-secure. The village pub is very good and the village shop/cafe brilliant. Lovely area, he property is well positioned for RSPB Ynys-hir, the Dyfi Osprey project and Borth beach. Interesting walks into the woods and hills behind the village. Aberystwyth and Machynlleth are within easy reach. Additional observations not for publication. The property is, in our experience, unique in not providing any instructions on the use of the facilities. There was no mention of having to switch on the heater for hot water, no wood left for the wood burner, no explanation that the utility area was in the garage (we assumed it was as the door was left open) and the filter on the tumble dryer clearly had not been cleaned for some time. The TV could use updating particularly with regard to a simple catchup facility. Lighting upstairs is great but downstairs could be better as the room is quite dark.

The small bedroom is extremely small, the only room , in the bedroom is what you ...
The small bedroom is extremely small, the only room , in the bedroom is what you see in the photo, so its more ideal for younger children, my son is 5 7" tall and very active yet struggled to get onto the top bunkbed ,the bathroom was very nice in size and the double bedroom although small was comfortable, the sitting room/kitchen had everything and was also a nice size and comfortable this is a very nice and comfortable lodge as well as clean so I would recommend it but probably better for couples or younger families, the beds were also very comfortable and clean, the area around it is very nice and it was easy to find, we did enjoy our stay here and was very happy with it all, with the exception of the teenagers, who for them felt it was cramped, for myself and my husband we would happily come back here again and we did all enjoy our stay, I also liked that it was dog friendly and still very clean and nice, even our little dog loved his stay here to, I would recommend this place for a nice and relaxing break
