What our customers say about their holidays

House badly needs maintenance and thorough deep clean.
The floorboards are completely gone to deep holes on the main corridor. Dangerous. Mould on walls, especially in the bedroom with ensuite. Plumbing sounds like it could explode. Bedding stained (duvets and pillows). Lots of random old stuff left in kitchen area. And shed. Upstairs double bed so creaky could break at any point. (And it was only a young slim girl sleeping in it) Garden has many loose paving stones on steep steps and unguarded steep stone drops. Very dangerous if older or children. Electric garden gate not working at all despite your arrival instructions. Outside furniture horrendous and bbq had been used as a fire pit with large half burned logs still there. Most of the saucepans and frying pans do not work on the induction hob. House information pack pointless, as out of date. No info re recycling. Torches provided but not working. Sign in lounge said âlogs and kindlingâ but none there. No welcome pack at all, even toilet rolls. I am appalled Sykes gives this a 4 tick rating. However⦠the house is in an amazing location with superb walking, pubs, shops etc all close from the front door. And the views from the house are magnificent. And a red squirrel in the garden

A spacious and comfortable lodge.
A nice quiet area with good access to places of interest. Easy key collection and lots of equipment in the lodge to make the stay homely. Unfortunately the cleanliness was an issue. The floor had not be cleaned at all, within 5 minutes our socks were covered in dog hair and dirt. Never have we had to clean on arriving at a property. The floor and carpets were so dirty. There was remnants of a dog bone under the edge of the sofa and it was clear that large items had never been moved to clean. Lumps of hair and grit were hoovered up and I had to wipe all the window sills. The dust on the router had been there for weeks if not months, it was covered. Dog hair all over the leather sofa had to be cleaned before we could sit. Other issues we had were that the fire did not work, shower leaks lots of watet all over the floor in the main bathroom, you can see this is ongoing as the paint has gone brown on the skirting board. Freezer drawers all broken.

The apartment was superb.
..really well designed with a high spec interior it had everything you could wish for. The bathroom in particular was fantastic. A wonderful deep bath to soak the muscles after a days walking... The location is fantastic, only 2 mins from town but still a quiet location. There was a parking space in the buildings car park... probably the only negative as it's a bit tricky parking a large car, but you do get used to it..you need to reverse in !! Keswick is a wonderful base, the town has LOTS of really good places to eat, the fellpack was the best and closest.. (hence we didn't use the flats lovely kitchen very much). Quick mention for Angela the housekeeper a real asset, very helpful and knowledgeable... Pointed us in the direction of the best Chinese takeaway. (Golden hills). All in all an excellent stay and we really hope to return. Thankyou!

The house and was very large, clean and well equipped.
It's location was also hard to beat, being placed right at the foot of Catbells. We are a walking party of 12 that have been renting such properties for the past 25 years. We had few complaints, but as is often the case with such a large houses, there were a few "niggles" that need attention. We do our own catering and the Aga took a couple of days to reach temperature. This was a real pain for the chefs. The showers needed pumps and several were just a trickle, much of the time. The 4g provided Internet and supporting internal network was intermittent, to say the least! It disappeared completely for the last 3 days. There is some mobile reception on the top floor, but the solution needs a reliable multi-Sim upgrade or satellite solution, to match the premium price paid. Overall though we would definitely return. Many thanks.

Fabulous house in a brilliant location on Derwent water with amazing views of fells including Cat Bells and family friendly walks and more challenging walks from the door.
We were a large family party of three generations from toddlers to grandparents and we all had a wonderful stay. Really comfortable bedrooms all ensuite so everyone was happy and lots of space for us all to spread out.. The very well-equipped large kitchen dining room with the incredibly long table made a great family space for everyone. The children really enjoyed the garden too. We'd love to come back. Just a couple of niggles - one of the dishwashers didn't work while we were there and one of the sofas at the dining table seemed to have a wobbly leg. We also never worked out how to make all three TVs work except for the one in the library room which the children used but we were too busy having fun to watch the others anyway! We didn't have any problems with the wifi on our phones and devices.
