What our customers say about their holidays

Perfect location and more space in the house than had expected.
Garage space and drive brilliant - we had a kayak and wheels for it, so was perfect for storage in between use. Kitchen well equipped and cooked two meals for 7 of us, so that was ideal. The dishwasher was a bit hit and miss on working, and looked like the 'start' button was not functioning. We added salt and rinse aid and ran once to see if would clear and work ok. It did once, but then not again. The large sink helped and we were happy to wash up anyway. Outdoor patio areas just right and good use of the space, with always a place to catch the sun and have a quiet drink out of the house. The bedrooms were nice and big enough for needs with plenty of storage options for clothing. The master bedroom on the top floor was great with superb views - the only downside was a very uncomfortable mattress and think it actually is well past its best. I've stayed in all sorts of properties and hotels and you can learn to sleep on most things (ie. I am not a real fuss pot), but this one was so saggy and dropped at the sides - we were nearly falling out at times. We had issue with the utility room shower screens, which Coast/Country were already aware of. A prompt visit from the maintenance team confirmed, that the screens were not going to be repairable. We used with limited time to stop water spread in that room. It also looks like the similar shower screen on the top floor bathroom is going the same way, with a gap now on the door edge when shut. I moved the shower head nozzle at a backward angle to help stop any water spread beyond the screen. Everything else with bathrooms really good and decent water pressure given the use we had at times and spread of floors. Overall, we found it the right balance of a very convenient place to stay (with one hill and flight of steps to cope with), with all the main things you need for a family stay. We would definitely use again as it ticks so many boxes for us. Thank you

A lovely spot to stay in Salcombe.
We had two families with toddlers (although if not safe on stairs you will need 4 stair gates) and it worked really well, nice a light airy space and estuary glimpses. Park with swings and slides were a very short walk away and the town centre was very close. Having parking was really helpful. We parked two cars no problem. You could get 4 in but would be a real squeeze. There were a few things that could be improved. Taps seemed to work in a order or priority from basement working up the house. i.e. if someone was having a shower downstairs none of the hot water taps above worked including the kitchen and upstairs en-suit. Not great if you have 8 people wanting to shower in the morning. All of the dishes and cutlery in the house were dirty on arrival plus pots and pans were all greasy. After using the dishwasher we found out why. The dish washer left a film of dirt and grease on everything (tried running it empty on a few cycles but no help) we ended up using it as a drying rack. Also the kick board under the dishwasher kept on catching when you opened the dishwasher - this needs reattaching. The windows could have been cleaned better on the inside - a lot of smears, especially at toddler height. On arrival towels had been forgotten and one of the radiators were leaking. C&CC very quickly arrived to provide towels and stop the leak.

The Yardarm is a lovely property in an ideal location with the added bonus of off street parking.
The house had everything that our party of six needed. A few negatives considering the cost of renting this property. Although it was clean on first inspection once we had been there a few days we noticed that not all the crockery and cutlery was as clean as we would have liked nothing too gross but some knives and forks had crusty food on. The cups at the back of the cupboards had coffee smears on. The windows were dirty and had seagulls poo on. I know they go to the loo all the time in Salcombe but it wouldn't hurt to clean the windows ready for the new residents it would create a better impression. The outdoor space/patio area near the bedrooms was filthy, a good sweep wouldn't go a miss also the patio furniture was old and faded well past its replacement date. And the two downstairs bathrooms were getting to look very tired with cracking paint and rusty fittings i realise that having bathrooms without windows and just extractor fans does create damp but periodicall maintenance would solve this. Taking these minor niggles into consideration we had a lovely time in Salcombe and the sun shone for us.

Another holiday enjoyed at Yardarm and we've already booked for next year.
Nice welcoming box when we arrived which was welcome for our first cup of tea. Did love the fact the mattress on the top double bed had been changed and it was so comfortable. Loving the water pressure you get in all the showers and the mended shower door in the utility room was well received by sons, who used it last year. Cooked more times this year and the kitchen has everything and good quality pans, which always helps. Great location and the estuary view from the lounge. We used the little sundeck on the top steps as well one afternoon with a gin and tonic, which was lovely to relax at the end of a busy day on the beach! The seagulls were on good form each morning from 5am, so got used to that as well as the nearby old ladies dog, yapping most mornings at any passing people, so went with the flow and didn't ruin any of the stay. Love holidays here and so do all our family now!

Tucked away in the rolling hills above East Portlemouth, Moorstone was the perfect spot for a slow weekend by the sea. The cottage feels like a real home—welcoming, simply styled, and designed for easy living. Mornings started with coffee in the garden, while the children ran about happily, enjoying the open space before we set off for the day’s adventures. With the Salcombe ferry just a short drive away and stunning coastal walks on the doorstep, there was plenty to explore. After long afternoons of sea air and sandcastle building, we returned to cook up simple suppers in the well-equipped kitchen, before sinking into the sofa for a film and a glass of well deserved wine. With comfy beds, plenty of space, and a great location for family adventures, this is the kind of place that makes relaxing effortless. A proper little hideaway we’d love to return to.
