What our customers say about their holidays

In terms of your tick rating we were quite disappointed with this property.
We have self catered a lot so have several places to compare it with. The beds were comfy though comfort in super king suffered because of âtwinâ join. In a general sense the cottage was clean - bathroom, toilets etc and the heating system worked well so warm and cosy. However here is a list of some of the main things we feel let us down Limited kitchen equipment eg no sieve to drain rice, initially no cafetière, no pyrex basins, measuring jug, scales etc. Filthy grill and oven. Guest book comments would suggest this has been the case for sometime! Impossible access to fridge/freezer, grill and oven once people are seated at the table Kitchen table and seating only really caters for six people General impression of kitchen was that it needed revamping and reorganising Extractor fan in downstairs loo blew out dirty fluff Loo brushes and holders needed renewing Upstairs shower screen leaked badly over floor Inadequate storage for clothing. Ridiculous coathangers. Looked as though they were a job lot from Mothercare . Could not hang adult trousers on them. Television wouldnât work because the aerial socket was broken Generally we felt the cottage looked âtiredâ and worn and needed a redo especially as we stayed at the beginning of the season the standard was not good. We felt it was ok if you wanted to drink wine (overflowing with wine glasses!), use the hot tub and eat at the pub, not if you were serious about âself cateringâ. By the way, the hot tub was great.

We loved our week at this property.
On arrival we were greeted by a lovely cake and welcome pack from the owner which was a lovely touch after our drive. The kitchen was bright and fresh and had everything you could possibly need only slight suggestion is to maybe look at some new frying pans as the ones there are starting to lose their non-stick. The coffee machine wasn't listed on the description which was a lovely bonus on arrival so we could have a lovely coffee. The sitting room again was lovely and bright and had enough seating for everyone. The owner provided lots of blankets for sitting outside and materials for starting a fire in the wood burner. the bedrooms had so much space in them and were also so very comfy so it was lovely to go to bed after a long day exploring. The hot tub was beautiful and again perfect for a couple of hours in the afternoon when we stayed in rather than explore. I love how secure the garden was for the two dogs this truly is a pet friendly property. Only a couple of things were the communications on arrival information/times were varying across different messages via Sykes, owner and advert even after confirming with Sykes the check-in time. Also the adverts doesn't state there are steps throughout the property on each level apart from the main stairs. For us it wasn't a problem but with a family member becoming less mobile a little notes about this might be worth considering. We look forward to visiting again.

We have booked a number of cottages from your organisation and have always been very pleased with them.
Sadly, we cannot say the same about Windyridge. While the house is lovely (though it is middle and not end terrace as described) it certainly falls short of your customary standards as follows: There is no mop nor long-handled brush to clean the kitchen floor (which has been left very stained and marked by previous occupiers) and which as walkers we feel necessary. There are also stains on the landing carpet which were there when we arrived. The curtains in the sitting room are hanging off the curtain rails and give the room a very uncared for look. It would be impossible to prepare and cook a meal for eight as there is only one small chopping board which has to serve as a bread board and a board for preparing veg. Nor are there any bowls for making dishes nor for serving food. While there is a lot of crockery none of it can safely go in a microwave. There is only one bath mat for two bathrooms and the basin in the bathroom has a faulty plug and a loose tap. There were no additional toilet rolls. There is no âbook of wordsâ giving information about the property and surrounding area. It is our experience that owners usually leave several leaflets and recommendations to help their visitors enjoy the local area.

Lovely cottage in the heart of Settle.
Beautifully decorated with very modern refurbished fully equipped kitchen. Lovely and clean with good appliances. Loved the speakers as we try not to watch TV so really enjoyed playing music while we relaxed. Beds really comfortable and loved the attic room. Lovely little garden where we ate breakfast every morning. Good local shops pubs and takeaways can definitely recommend the Indian and The Golden Lion. Really appreciated the welcome email I received on the morning I arrived and the welcome gift we received. Lots out and about to do. Walks locally, the Settle to Carlisle railway on your doorstep and beautiful Bolton Abbey and Ingleby falls only 30-40 min drive away. Also 3 peaks if you fancy a challenge. Only slight issue lots of stairs not a problem for us but not if you have difficulty with stairs but this is mentioned in the cottage blurb so absolutely no issue for us. Also parking can be tricky as on street parking that neighbours seem to monitor but again we managed to get parked every night however there is a car park in the village at a small cost. Would definitely stay again and definitely recommend.

Having worked in the travel industry for the past 25 years, it's fair to say I've been spoilt and it takes a lot to impress me.
Lianne's beautiful cottage however did just that. I had a brilliant night with my husband to be prior to our wedding, a night with my closest friends, brother and mother the night before the big day and then my friends had an amazing place to relax the night of the wedding. Lianne really was an absolute joy to deal with and made it so easy for us, even taking some things left behind to the hotel to collect upon my return from honeymoon. The cottage is a home from home, everything done to a very high standard, impeccable clean with so much attention to detail. It's next to a lovely pub literally next to and the wood fried hot tub was such a barrel (excuse the pun) of laughs! I'll always have such fond memories of where I stayed right before my wedding and won't hesitate to return as I find it both fabulous value for money and such a beautiful area to explore!
