What our customers say about their holidays

We enjoyed our weeks stay at Crag View and the property lived up to expectations.
Clover very kindly allowed us to have our granddaughters for a sleepover one night and they were delighted with their room. We took them on the steam train from Embsay to Bolton Abbey which was a real treat for them as they had never been on a train journey before. Weâd strongly recommend it to other visitors to the Dales. Weâve been staying in that part of the country for almost 50 years and always find something different to do. Billy Bobs ice cream parlour was an absolute hit with the girls and the weather was ideal for a day at Bolton Abbey playing in the water and a walk to The Strid never disappoints. In the past, my husbandâs parents used to take him to Kettlewell and fish for tiddlers in the river Wharfe. We did the same with our three and now the third generation of our family love doing it too! Simple pleasures are always the best. The Scarecrow week was still being held at Kettlewell when we were there and we actually took our own children to the very first festival about thirty years ago! Our granddaughters found it very amusing. The Elm Tree in Embsay, virtually opposite Crag View, serves very good food and The Three Sheep in Skipton, is a favourite Tea Shop of ours. Skipton Woods is another clear favourite to exercise our two dogs. The Prosecco and truly delicious ginger biscuits were a welcomed gift from Clover and the kitchen was very well equipped. The large fridge freezer, not typical of cottages weâve stayed in over the years, is certainly a welcomed feature and the kitchen units are clean and modern. All in all, an extremely pleasant cottage but we did find the pink sofa bed in the sitting room to be very uncomfortable. Iâd recommend that Clover replaces it for a more âback friendly â one in the future. There are notices at the top and bottom of the staircase warning guests of the steep stairs and to use the handrail. I strongly recommend other guests to take heed of the signs. The beds are very comfortable, again not typical of a holiday cottage. You chose them well Clover, we slept like babies

Absolutely perfect!
This was our 7th year, spending Christmas in Yorkshire, and Crag Cottage in Embsay has now become our firm favourite. The village itself was full of charm. Christmas carols at the pub on Christmas Eve made it very special; with a sense of belonging to the village. Locals were warm and friendly and welcomed us. The cottage was inviting and cosy and had everything we needed. The beds were extremely comfortable and the fire was the perfect gift, after a long, cold walk. The dogs particularly appreciated it. We enjoyed beautiful walks, long and short, from the doorstep and the hike up Embsay Crag was definitely worth the view. A trip to Bolton Abbey took us on a very long walk, alongside the river, with a stop off at the café along our way. The courtyard, at the back of the property, was perfect for the dogs and was very secure. I couldn't recommend Crag View Cottage more, especially if you're looking for comfort and a place to unwind in the beautiful, Yorkshire surroundings. We will most definitely be booking again. Many thanks to the owner for her clear instructions and easy communication.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Folly.
The property was immaculate and well set up. You have all the amenities you need to cook and prepare food and The Fountaine Inn located across the bridge provided excellent food and drinks after a long day walking. The hot tub is private and looks out over fields, with only a few sheep for company. Great to sit back and enjoy some fizz while the sun goes down. There are lots of great walks and locations to visit from The Folly. We walked down to Grassington, passing Linton Falls, and enjoyed a coffee in one of the many cafes/restaurants. We also walked in the opposite direction past the neighbouring farm following a path to Hebden then back across to Grassington which was longer but full of fantastic views. All locations are dog friendly with many fully loaded treat jars on hand. Chris & Sally were so friendly and welcoming. They were happy to advise should you need recommendations and were on hand should you need anything. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in the beautiful property, great location and will definitely return.

We have just returned from a short stay at The Folly and what can I say other than wow!
We booked this as our first break away as a couple after having our son 3 years ago and came away feeling well and truly relaxed. The location is the perfect base to explore the Dales and Linton itself is beautiful with a lovely pub just steps away from the property. The Folly was well equipped, spotlessly clean and felt cosy without feeling cramped due to the bright and modern decor and layout. I could have spent hours looking out of the dressing table window across the unspoilt views of the fields! At the front of the property was a beautiful hot tub with the same gorgeous views- definitely recommend getting up early and braving the cold to watch the sun rise over the fields- beautiful! Chris and Sally were very friendly and welcoming making sure we knew everything we needed to know about the property on arrival and met us to say farewell when we departed. We would definitely recommend The Folly to anyone who is looking for a relaxing break away. Thank you for having us and we hope to be back in the future!
