What our customers say about their holidays

Excellent cottage in a fantastic location!
The cottage was great for a family get together. The five en-suite bedrooms easily accommodated 8 adults, 1 child, 3 toddlers and a dog! There was everything we needed in the cottage. The kitchen was particularly well equipped. Claire, the owner, emailed a few days before our visit with a detailed breakdown of what was included in the cottage down to the little things such as tin foil, washing up liquid, coffee maker, coffee and tea, which helped when arranging an online shopping delivery. On arriving at the cottage we found our online shop had arrived early. Claire had been great about it. She has let the delivery driver make the delivery and had started unpacking the shopping and put chilled and frozen items in the fridge and freezer, which was very kind and helpful for us! The views around the cottage are stunning and made for a very relaxing break! Itâs a 2 minute walk down to the village green where our grandchildren had a great time playing by the side of the river. Having the local pub on the village green was also a bonus for a quick drink! And the food was very good too. The cottageâs position is ideal for visiting other places in the beautiful Yorkshire dales too. We have stayed in several cottages in the past and this is definitely top of our list of favourites!!

We are a family of 10 ie, myself and my wife, our daughters, their husbands and our 4 young grandchildren.
We have been having family weekends away for the past 8 years and we all agreed that Linton Laithe is about the cleanest we have stayed in. The kitchen is well equipped with cutlery and crockery and well laid out and there is more than enough seating for everyone. The lounge is large and again has plenty of seating for all to sit comfortably. There are five bedrooms each with an ensuite. These have all been furbished to a very high standard and some also have their own seating areas. The building was evidently originally a large stone barn but has been very imaginatively converted to its present layout. All the rooms and the hallway are large giving it a very opulent feel and the main staircase is a very imposing feature. In spite of the size the accommodation has a very homely feel. There is a very homely pub, the Fountains Inn, literally two minutes walk away and several other pubs locally ie the Gamekeepers Inn, Threshfield and the Red Lion Burnsall, serving food to a very high standard. We were fortunate enough to meet the owner, Clare who was lovely and had left us a delicious Victoria sponge cake for our arrival. We were sorry to leave!

Book8ng was so easy.
I first went to book on line but wasnt sure of skmething so called. The team are very friendly and although I was told I would get a call the day after to check I had paid ok on the link that was sent, I didnt. Fortunately the payment went through ok. There was 11 of us 8 adults and teenager and 3 kids. From being in the property 5 minutes I said how good it wouls be to claim squatters rights and stay forever (joking of course). Although the living room furniture was quite old it was still sufficient, spacious and very homely. All the facilities you needed was there apart from a mop so unfortunately we had no choice but to leave floors a little dirty. The shops, pubs and steam train are all in walk8ng distance and although uphill coming back was still not a bad walk. The only issue we found was that there was a cupboard full of games most of which were broken or empty or missing jigsaw pieces so if you have kids you need to make sure you take some games as the only one able to play was chess and even that had pieces missing. Apart from that everyth8ng was great and we had a lovely weekend.

We had a fantastic time at Laurel Bank Cottage.
Lovely, spacious property and perfect location. The kitchen was well equipped, and the large range cooker was perfect for cooking meals for our family group. The microwave did not spin, and on closer inspection it looks like a previous guest may have burnt something as there is damage to the base. We didnt really use it but something that the owners might want to look at for future guests. The downstairs bathroom has a leak from the basin, and the upstairs shower was sometimes difficult to use as it was either freezing cold or scorching hot as the control didn't allow a happy medium. This didn't negatively impact our stay just feedback for the owners. Generally the property was nice and clean, although there was a lot of high level cobwebs that could do with dusting. There was lots of places to visit within a short drive of the property, and Embsay itself is a lovely village with a small shop and two pubs that did great pub grub. We would definitely recommend this property, we had a wonderful time.

Excellent property.
13 adults, brothers, sisters, cousins and partners and we were very comfortable. Kitchen has all necessities, including, dishwasher and washing machine and plenty of crockery! Enough hot water to ensure 13 adults had showers and baths whenever needed and the property was more than warm enough for the beginning of May. Good internet connection. Quiet and delightful setting, peaceful and very scenic. Unfortunately we were unable to explore the local areas because we were only there for the weekend. We did go Gorge Walking however, and can recommend! The steam railway was also a success. We had a very well behaved dog who was made welcome and we loved the bed provided in the kitchen - thank you! Great communication (we were able to stay just a little longer than the 10am check out, because there were no other bookings, which made a real difference to our weekend, we were able to have a chilled breakfast). Thanks for your flexibility!
