What our customers say about their holidays

  • Julie - Verified booking

Firstly it is not clear which building the apartment is in as the building access is not in Belyars lane but the next road up The keysafe instructions are of no use!

! We could not find the box… no labelling, not in the position described. Had to ring the owner for more direction. He admitted its in a ridiculous position… Its about 9inches off the floor so very difficult to use . Old model with no visible numbers( mind you you’d have to lay on the floor to see them!!) Very very frustrating after a 7 hour journey!! Then issues to put keys back into it when we left. Couldn’t get box closed and again had to ring owner. Mainly down to the position of it! Finally managed it only then the next day to be accused by the owner of putting the wrong keys in the box!! How is that possible when they were the keys we used all week to get in and out of the apartment . He said a locksmith had had to be called at a cost of £80 to fix lock . We re awaiting more detail but have not had a reply from him This has totally put a huge negative on any thoughts of staying at this place again The other negatives are no change of towels or laundry in a week. You couldn’t wash what you had as no spare to use in the meantime. No iron even though there is an ironing board and no code for shed to put rubbish into although there is instruction to do that as you leave… yet another frustration! .. searched high and low for a code!! A lot more thought and attention needs to be put into the things above as things like key issues create stress and frustration. Very little information left about the area and most that there is is for children’s activities Not a property for those with limited agility as many steep hills up from the seafront and parking in St Ives is impossible We won’t be returning to this property due to the issues and accusation but will definitely return to St Ives

    This is a superb property.

Access is simple as long as you don't mind 2 flights of stairs. The bedrooms are very spacious, light and comfortable. The bathrooms are modern and the shower in the en suite is really nice (maybe swap the bath for a similar shower in the main bathroom?). As it's a top floor apartment it does get warm inside but there are plenty of windows to open and let the ocean breeze in. The views are stunning across Carbis Bay and St Ives with a really good sunset view too. The kitchen/living area was actually bigger than we expected so was a really good space with all the facilities you'd like to see. The Bluetooth speaker was easy to use and of good quality and the TV was large with access to many services such as Netflix etc. There are some faults with the window handles in the right hand bedroom but this didn't have an impact on our stay and was logged by Sykes straight away. We also had a problem with the main bathroom sink but again Skyes fixed it the same day with no impact on our stay. We stayed in June and there were seagulls nesting on the roof which were noisy in the morning but we actually quite liked checking on them each day, something to note though if you're a late sleeper. The only change I'd make is replacing the sofa in the living area. It's a great size but maybe has lost some of its comfort; also the modular set up means gaps can appear between the seats making it uncomfortable to sit on. This really is a minor point though but would make the apartment faultless in my view.

We had an incredible time at Bayvista.

The views over Carbis Bay & towards St Ives are spectacular. Having the train station opposite was fabulous and we rarely moved the car - visiting St Ives, Truro, Penzance and Falmouth easily - the walk along the cliffs to St Ives is stunning too. A couple of highlights included some stunning sun rises/sets, dolphin spotting in the bay & watching shooting stars from the hot tub. The accommodation is exceptional, spotlessly clean & finished to a very high standard (the photos don’t do it justice). The local artwork throughout the property is beautiful. The kitchen is very well equipped & having washing up liquid, cloths & tea towels was very helpful. The linen is thick and luxurious & sitting outside snuggled in one of the many throws with a coffee, was lovely in January. The hot tub is checked regularly & housekeeping were really helpful. The welcome hamper, milk in the fridge & fresh flowers were lovely touches & made us feel very welcome. The owners were quick to respond to a couple of minor issues & couldn’t have been more helpful. If we had one minor niggle, it would be lack of storage space in the bedrooms & bathrooms - we did feel some additional drawers and/or shelves would be helpful. Otherwise - an exceptional property, in a peaceful & quiet, but prime location. We loved it & would have no hesitation in recommending it

We really wanted to like this place.

Unfortunately the place was filthy when we arrived - a deep clean was desperately needed with the drawers filled with crumbs and dirt, same for the tables and countertops covered. Half eaten food was left in the freezer. Most of the utensils were sticky to the touch or food coated, as were the place mats, which we left unused in the cupboard. It would have been nice to have a single dishwasher tablet or two provided, as capsules were for the washing machine. The sofa is extremely uncomfortable and old, as other reviews have said. It smells like vomit for some reason that I’d prefer not to think too hard about. It needs to be replaced. Much of the furniture is worn and needs repainting. The vibe of the place is a run-down dirty attempt at Versailles in a dodgy flat. Maintenance of the whole building is abysmal, given that the (only!) door to the whole building broke, trapping us inside and with any other residents. The number to call in the lobby didn’t answer. We only managed to escape the building after Googling the Sykes number online to get in contact with someone. If there had been a fire, nobody would have been able to get out. That said, bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and the location is walking distance to St Ives. If you only stay there to sleep, it’s great.

The flat was spotless and had lovely views.

There were a few niggles that were irritating. In the main bedroom the bedside tables were not useable. There were wicker and around 4ft high and my elderly mother couldn’t even rest a cup on tea on it. The 2nd bedroom had an ensuite with a clear door. It looked as if there was a roller blind in place previously but had been removed. I resorted to hanging towels on coat hangers to block the view. Felt very uncomfortable using the toilet. The integrated fridge door had become detached from the outer door which again was irritating. The biggest niggle was the poorly maintained decked area. Several of the planks were warped and sticking up. All three of us without exception tripped as some point. The wall mounted baskets looked like they had been there for several years and were woody and unloved. There was no parasol for the table and with record heat it’s a small thing that would of helped greatly. As the apartment cost over £2000 for the week these are things you should be corrected. The hilly position would be of concern to some people, fine for us but should be noted if you are less mobile.
