What our customers say about their holidays

Overall we had a nice week in February. The hosts were lovely and met us on arrival. The cottage was cosy and comfortable. The furnishings however are dated. The kitchen lacks utensils and equipment to be able to use it fully. The pillows didn’t have protectors on. The rear garden is nothing like it looks in the pictures and was in bad need of a power wash. The flags were slippy as were covered in moss and algae. There were also steps in the garden which were difficult to negotiate. The main issue with the property is the location and this not being as described. It is very close to the village however this is up a steep hill. There is no-where to walk from the cottage that doesn’t involve a steep hill. Parking was also not ideal. It is on the road facing the cottage - the road is extremely busy for a rural village. Once parked you have to walk on a patch of grass to access the passenger side of the car. The village has some nice shops but the pubs were poor. Im sorry but we wouldnt recommend or stay again. With updating and maintenance in the garden it could be massively improved. However, nothing can be done about the hill or parking facilities.

Having read the reviews, some of which had some crital comments, we went with an open mind.
..well, we found 99% of these to be unfair... the cottage was lovely to look at, very clean inside and out, a very adequate fitted kitchen, a lovely large bathroom with a large shower cubicle ( although not a power shower) it still works very well. The lounge was large enough for us two & our dog. Then upstairs has a dressing room & a lovely large bedroom with an extremely comfy bed. The enclosed garden to the rear was perfect for us. Along with a parking area. Comments made regarding no where to walk your dog... rubbish, we found atleast four walks that were perfectly safe.. one of which was around 30 mins circular woodland walk... they are there if you look. We had a fantastic week's stay and was sad to have to go home..the cottage was perfect ... in an ideal location for us, at a great price. Will we be going back? Absolutely ! Thank you.

We thought this was a well-appointed cottage very convenient to many places of interest.
It was clean, comfortable and well equipped and we had a very pleasant stay. I was however surprised that there was no information/welcome pack. Considering that the cottage has no WiFi and rather poor network coverage I think it was particularly important to provide this. The cooker has an induction hob which I have only come across once before and they are not easy to operate if you are not familiar with them. We were actually locked out of it half way through cooking a meal and it took a while to locate a user manual. Also we managed to find a footpath over the fields to Ripley village and the nearest pub using our GPS (or you can take the permissive path via Whipley Bank Lane on the opposite side of the road), but it might have been helpful to have this sort of useful local info provided.

It was a lovely setting.
How nice to hear the farm animals and feel so secluded. The dogs loved the garden that they could run around freely in. We had some great meals nearby. The property was just what you needed. There were a few minor points. Some things felt like they were about to break - hadnât but any minute could..these were the kitchen tap, blinds in the bedroom, one of the single beds and remotes for the tele. I was on edge knowing that we could be charged with them and had to be very careful. We would also have appreciated hand soap in at least one of the bathrooms, just because it has been at all the other properties we have stayed at so werenât expecting to have to bring our own. On the whole though these were minor things and we would be happy to return. Thank you

7 Scarah Bank is a lovely stone terraced cottage.
Very cosy, warm and welcoming. We shall return when possible. Had no problem with access at the rear..just have to be a little careful. The exit is also fine and you can see on coming traffic if you look a little beyond the first bend you can view the road for an adequate distance. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean. The garden safe for a dog at the back. Contents all adequate. The bathroom is downstairs and the lack of blinds or curtains in the kitchen was not a problem for us. Only point to be aware of was the next door neighbour called round to ask that the outside light at rear be turned off as it interfered with their stargazing. Same neighbour did kindly put out the bins however.
