What our customers say about their holidays

We had a fantastic week at Cuckoo Cottage.
So cosy and well-equipped. Took us a while to spot the very apt hourly clock function and was a lovely surprise when we did (which I wonât spoil by detailing but people may guess!). Looking at the photos and comments I was concerned about the size of the telly but it was fine. Perfectly visible & worked well. Also Iâd seen comments regarding parking but we got parked right next to the cottage every time we returned and when we arrived. Cones seem to have been provided to help with this. The kids loved the games room, enjoying the darts & air hockey table. We loved the Royal Oak which was even closer than we expected and ate there 3 of the 5 nights. Great service & food. A very warm welcome there too. Pateley Bridge had all we needed and more. Nice big playground, chippie, pancake house, a few shops for souvenirs, food etc. petrol station very handy for the last day. We enjoyed trips to Harrogate, Ripon, Coldstone Cut & Brimham Rocks. All worth a visit! Loved the fire. Great bathroom with bath & shower & comfy beds. Very noisy floorboards but as youâd expect in a property of this age. Kitchen was very well equipped. Book exchange & bookmarks were a nice touch. Just a couple of minor niggles: Heating was set very high! I tried to lower it from 24 degrees but it seemed to revert every time a new cycle changed. Didnât want to fiddle with settings other than temperature & just kept on top of it. The oven was very difficult to figure out since it seems to have non conventional settings (eg no âfan ovenâ) and to compound this many of the symbols have rubbed off. We got round it after a fair bit of googling in conjunction with the instructions provided. Ended up searching up an image of the Smeg dial. Would be useful to include this image with the instructions so people can see which position each setting is on the dial or mark them on the oven itself? Also the velux window in the back bedroom leaked during heavy rain (luckily just onto the floor rather than the nearby bed so more an issue for the owners than us). Thank you for having us, we had a very relaxing & enjoyable stay. Wouldnât hesitate to recommend or return.

We had a lovely stay with our daughter and granddaughter The cottage was wet equipped however the furniture was a little tired Parking was an issue.
We couldnât park near the cottage as there was a bmw parked outside the cottage all week. It never moved and ended up parking at the end of the one way street this meant as we took 2 cars one of the cars was rarely used and consequently ended up covered in sticky tree sap The games room was a big hit with our 6 yr old granddaughter We do feel that many cottages say they are dog friendly but when you arrive there are a list of things dogs canât do ie get on the furniture or go upstairs. This criticism is not only aimed at cuckoo cottage Or dog is allowed on our furniture and sleeps on our bed. It makes any holiday more stressful than it needs to be when youâre trying to keep the dog off the sofa and from going upstairs. She doesnât understand why she has to stay downstairs when we go to bed Overall the cottage was lovely. The underfloor heating is a nice touch and the bathroom is modern and spacious. The floors upstairs feel a little less well supported and are very noisy and creaky The cottages back seating area though small is a sun trap but could do with a tidy up On the whole we had a lovely time and would recommend the cottage to our none dog owning friends

An outstanding stay in a beautiful barn conversion on a working farm.
This is definitely the best sykes cottage we have stayed in. We arrived shortly after the arrival time and met and welcomed by Carol the owner, who fetched us some extra blankets for our baby. We were very surprised to have a lovely hamper waiting for us filled with many items from Bettys Tearooms aswell as fresh eggs, and the fridge having butter, milk and orange juice. It had everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. It was a lovely touch that a new looking, solid cot was provided, which we had struggled to find elsewhere (and seeing this in the images before we booked). The decor was minimalist, but still stylish (ideal for a 15 month old and keeping breakables out of reach). Its clear Carol the family put alot of passion and time into the cottages as since making our booking and arriving, they had electric car chargers installed and Carol was very keen to hear our feedback when we were packing the car on the morning of our departure. Bravo and we hope to return in the near future!

Really comfortable and thoughtful restoration of old farm buildings to create three cottages.
Impressive views and peaceful surroundings although situated on a working farm. Extremely comfortable beds, large bedrooms and beautiful bathrooms. Very well equipped kitchen - we wanted for nothing. Good wi-fi. Fantastic welcome pack with superb products from Betty's of Harrogate. All in all an excellent experience in terms of accommodation. The only downside for us, as non dog owners, was the fact that the people in both the other cottages each had two dogs and we were assaulted by a cacophany of very loud barking every time we went in and out of the cottage. The dogs were not always kept on leads and invaded our section of the garden and left their mess which was not always cleared up by their owners. Had it been summer I would not have felt comfortable using the garden and I definitely would not recommend this property to anyone who does not like dogs.

We had a fantastic few days at Millerâs Wheel while attending our daughterâ degree ceremony in Leeds.
The cottage was absolutely perfect. The best we have ever stayed in. So much care and thought was given to the small details like shampoo and conditioner, plenty of utensils, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, washer/dryer, dishwasher everything was amazing. Underfloor heating too which the dogs loved! As for the welcome hamper, well what can I say⦠it was full of Bettyâs goodies and also included festive treats: mince pies, stollen, Bettyâs stem ginger cake, Bettyâs tea, shortbread wine and more! The Christmas tree and decorations were fabulous. Plenty of walks from the cottage and places to visit. I just wish we could have stayed longer and will be back again soon. Thank you for a lovely warm welcome and a fantastic few days in Millerâs Wheel
