What our customers say about their holidays
John - Verified booking
The cottage is comfortable, clean and well-equipped; there was always lots of very hot water and the shower ran consistently.
The fridge is very small and we couldnât fit everything in that we wanted to. The small lounge is cosy and soon warms up with the electric fire. The sofa and armchairs are comfortable and better than those we find in many rental properties. The bed is comfortable and we slept well. It was good to have a CD player as we didnât want to watch TV all the time. The Wifi signal was very weak and inconsistent such that the connection was often dropped, though this was less of a problem in the bedroom. However, the data speed was reasonable. The cream tea on arrival was much appreciated and the jam was delicious. The location is delightful and peaceful and the garden with its huge pond is beautiful and a lovely place to sit when the weather is nice, which it was most of the time. Access from the nearby A30 is quick and, although the last half mile is a single track lane with only one passing place, we only once encountered another car. Arriving on the A30 from the east necessitates a right turn across the busy dual carriageway and similarly if one wants to travel west after leaving the property; the road is often very busy and we had to wait several minutes for a gap in the traffic on some occasions. We had an excellent lunch at the Eliot Arms in Tregadillett and a good value steak dinner at the Archer Arms in Lewannick, to which we walked despite the long 1 in 7 hill (total walking time about 30 minutes). Tuesday is their steak night and, although it was quiet, we were told itâs advisable to book. There are plenty of nice places to visit by car and the Cheesewring, easily accessed from Minions on the east flank of Bodmin Moor, is a remarkable geological feature worth seeing. We had an excellent week with good, dry weather and loved the practical but peaceful location.

We (2 adults, child & dog) spent an amazing weekend at the Old Cattle Shed and were totally blown away by the attention to detail and luxury of the accommodation. A fantastically well equipped kitchen and property in general. The garden really is totally dog friendly with a fully secure perimeter and 6ft fencing all around. We visited with our escape artist beagle and had absolutely no concerns with allowing him to relax in the garden. We were so grateful to Jenny & Roger for all the extras they provided - gorgeous homemade scones complete with jam and clotted cream, Prosecco and beer were just a few of the many highlights. It was also such a lovely touch that the artwork throughout the property is all Jenny’s own work, it really added so much to our stay. The location of the property is beautifully secluded but we found it was ideal for exploring the likes of Bodmin Moor, Boscastle, Crackington Haven, Trebaewith Strand and Polzeath slightly further away. Jenny and Roger were the perfect hosts and our only complaint was that we didn’t book for a longer stay - we really do hope we will be back one day! We have no doubt that this property will become extremely popular and this will be testament to what a fantastic stay we had. There are too many positives to list them all individually but you are really in for a wonderful break if you book this property. Thank you Jenny and Roger for a wonderful weekend that the whole family has enjoyed so so much!

Went as a family group of 11 (2 families) with a mix of ages from 50âs to tweens and everything in between.
The house is amazing with all the space and facilities you could need for a large group, it was immaculately cleaned on our arrival and the lovely gesture of fresh flowers and biscuits was such a nice and welcoming touch. We arranged a supermarket delivery for our arrival which came with no problems and had pizzas delivered too from dominoâs (we were worried that we may be too secluded). Own mistake was not reading quite carefully enough as it does state towels provided and these were clean, fresh and fluffy hotel quality with enough for everyone who was staying if needed (could have saved some packing space). The house was always warm and cosy even without lighting the gorgeous log burner but we did once or twice just for the full farmhouse ambiance (its amazing and so relaxing) the kitchen was superbly equipped apart from some scissors which we brought (we left them in the drawer for the next guests). From a teen and tween perspective i was slightly worried about wifi, as screens are obviously life, but not only was the wifi serviceable it far outstripped our service back home (not once did i hear a complaint about it being slow or no signal) Overall i would without hesitation return, and am already looking for dates the whole family can do again.

This was a good base to visit 4 different groups of relatives and friends, stretching from Newquay, Okehampton to Northam and visit Eden.
It provided spacious accommodation for two of us and small dog and was value for money. Left some helpful comments in guest book, watered the wall mounted planters outside. The comments from another reviewer about dogs and clearing up mess are a fair reflection of reality. You are not to allow dog to poop in the garden which is all gravel, which is stated in the guest book on arrival with explanation. Of course, one would not expect the cleaning team to pick up poop, but even bagged poop is not allowed in the waste contractors bins, which had not been cleared for two or more weeks currently. The same reviewer also stated reality of access over Sycamore Farm's own drive to the cottage. The sign for Wagon House is small and attached to telegraph pole which is not owned by Sycamore Farm, as a sign can not be put onto or into the land that forms the track to Sycamore Farm. The parking pictures are taken with a wide angle lens, and we had to reverse out or in, if you are a party of two to six with dog and luggage, with car to reflect needs you will need to reverse. The parking bay is OK - if you are - Big Ears and Noddy visiting in Noddy car, or a Mini, Smart car.

Had a fantastic stay as a family of 2 adults and a 6 year old, in one of the 3 holiday cottages at this location.
The owners were very welcoming, recommended places to eat and visit. The location was secluded but on the doorstep of good, fast road links. The setting of the shared garden was tranquil with big fish pond and fruit trees, and we felt safe leaving our child to play with other children who happened to stay in the adjacent cottage. Lots of toys for the kids, sandpit and gorgeous Wendy house. The parking right outside was a godsend. The cottage was quiet at night and the beds were comfy. The shower was powerful and hot water was never a problem. The kitchen was extremely clean (like new) and well equipped with items you don't usually get for a holiday rental e.g pizza cutter, knife selection, foil, pegs. The fridge and freezer were big enough for what we bought. We managed to get WiFi strong enough for streaming services. It was a nice touch having the shared utility room with board games, body board, wind breakers available to borrow. We visited both north and south coastlines and it was a handy location for both. Thank you so much. We can't wait to stay again!
