What our customers say about their holidays

This is a most beautiful property and is immaculately kept.
We were worried about the parking but managed to get two Ford Kugas in the parking space with a tiny bit to spare. This really is an adults only property, thereâs nowhere for children to run around. Also if you have mobility problems the steps up could be a challenge. The views are fantastic, to the right is Looe, to the left the Rame. We loved hearing the sea crashing on the shore during a storm, something we donât hear living inland! Even in October we still managed to sit outside and enjoy the view. The local shop has shut for good which is a shame, so we picked up groceries when we were out and about, the nearest is Morrisons in Liskeard, but we also used Sainsburys in Bodmin and Tesco in St Austell. Like other visitors we found the recycling and rubbish collection very confusing. This should be made clearer and put by the back door. Where do glass bottles go? No provision for them, but one separate bin for cardboard and another one for paper when this could be combined into one box. The local council need to sort this out. On the Thursday before departing on the Friday I had an email from Sykes telling me to clean up, empty the bins and dishwasher and refer to the book in the house as to whether the beds need stripping. I have always done this in every property we have rented, but I found this very patronising and have never ever had such an email from any company that we have booked a holiday home from (I can understand that some visitors might leave a mess) but this email sent me and my daughter in a mad panic to vacuum everywhere and to sweep and clean the ground floor. This is not the way we want to spend an afternoon as we have obviously paid for the cleaning in with the booking. We also felt that we had done the cleaners job for them, all they needed to do was make the beds and clean the bathroom. This is was my only negative for the holiday All in all you wonât be disappointed if you book this property, we loved it. The owner has made provision for everything.

The cottage is in a lovely location.
It's very quaint and comfortably furnished. The sofa and king size sleigh bed are very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the large well equipped kitchen/ diner looking out at the river, which was lovely. There was a lovely welcome pack for us and our dog, which was a nice touch. The communication and instructions from owners slso very comprehensive. We never had any problem with hot water for bath or shower and the heating is controlled by hive thermostat so you can alter if needed. The cottage was always warm and we were never cold, despite not using the log burner. There is a Pub within walking distance and 3 others within a 10-20 min drive. There is a Spar inside the local garage for emergency provisions, but we had asda delivery whilst there The cottage is nicely situated for exploration of the south coast. We visited many beaches whilst there, all within 30 mins-1hr away. We also visited stonehenge which was an hour away. You don't need to leave the village if you just want somewhere peaceful to relax. My partner caught fish in the river too, which he was delighted about. We were very lucky with the weather though. 17 degrees and sunny mid October. The owners are lovely and were very kind to allow a short overstay due to storm babet. The housekeeper is also friendly and was happy to advise places to visit based on your interests We would strongly recommend the cottage for a holiday.

The holiday cottage was very clean and welcoming.
The location with the river meant you could see wildlife from the windows and the rear patio and over the week we saw fish, crayfish, egrets, heron, voles, squirrels and rabbits. Not forgetting the swans which demanded their breakfast every morning! The kitchen had everything you would need and more for a keen cook. The welcome pack was lovely and much needed after a long journey the bread and cheese in particular were a big hit with the family. Claire next door came to ensure we had what we needed and gave us recommendations on where to eat and places to go. We were visiting Dorset to visit Monkey World after my daughter had watched the programmes in lockdown and this was about 40 mins away. Weymouth was about 25 minutes, Lyme Regis 40 mins. We were happy to travel and also found lovely walks from the village. The village shop over the road stocked some nice items and the Spar shop at the garage was also good. The local pub (Chalk and Cheese) not very good and the food would not be recommended but the nearby villages had nice places to eat but need to be booked. We enjoyed our stay at Riverside. Thank you!

This is a beautifully situated house.
The garden is definitely the highlight and the vista from the deck is spectacular. Gas bbq was a really nice touch. Overall we had a lovely week. However, the house needs attention and is just not of a standard youâd expect for the price we paid of £3,200 for a week. The pull out larder is falling off its hinges and is unusable. There is a shortage of kitchen utensils, specifically a wok would have been good. The downstairs bedroom has an issue with damp. There is a damp smell and poor ventilation. The only tiny window was locked but when we eventually found the key, discovered you have to be over 6ft talk to open it! There is no visual info re bins/recycling and the recycling was overflowing as we had previous guests recycling also! It is in the book but it needs to be more visible by the back door. As you would expect there is a big issue with noisy seagulls in the morning especially in master bedroom. Other neighbours have installed netting on their roofs to prevent birds from landing as they are noisily jumping on the flat roof of the master bedroom from about 4am.

What an amazing and special house.
There was so much room for all of us. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom and we found it to be extremely comfortable. I am very quick to wake up with aches and pains but I had none. The shower was very powerful and a good temperature. All my family upstairs loved their comforts too. Gorgeous views. Managed to see some sun and drink coffee on the balcony. The Beech House Restaurant at the bottom of the hill serves great coffee and cake. They can really cook. On our first night we bought fish coujons and chips which were just delicious. Watch out though as his staff donât appear to realise he can provide fish coujons as a takeaway. Child portions were available too. Lovely wooded walks from the main Looe car park on the hill. Wouldnât hesitate to recommend this house. And Toni the caretaker was lovely and very helpful.
