  Both myself and the dog thoroughly enjoyed this holiday.

  The walk along the cinder path was longer than we thought and very muddy in places glad I took my walking boots. There is a shorter way into Whitby which the next door neighbours showed me on the last day. The cottage was lovely and clean and tidy also very warm. The electric went off for 6 hours on the Friday but that was due to Northern Power repairing a cable nearby. The walks around the river and Captain Cooks Haven were great for a last evening walk. The only things that could be better is that there were no bath mats and I hate getting out of a shower onto a tiled floor so I used the rubber mat for inside the bath. Also there was no draining rack for dishes (I know there is a dishwasher but being only myself I didn’t use it) I was bothered about the crockery sliding off the draining board into the floor. Only little things but would be nice to see these in place on a return visit. Would I go again yes definitely thinking about September. What doesn’t show on the picture is that you face the brick and wood shed which houses the bins so part of your view of the river/viaduct is obscured downstairs but great upstairs. Lovely open countryside views at the back and private decking area. No fenced in area but took the dog on the lead out to the grass at the back morning and evening for his toilet. Would recommend this property prefer being at the top than having to climb the steep hill everyday from the cottages at the bottom but they have a brilliant river view swings and roundabouts. Parking great no issues at all that’s a big plus for me

  We found the property easily with the instructions, it is actually slightly closer to Whitby than Google maps says.

  We’ve stayed in several places in Whitby, I thought this would be a little far out but it really wasn’t, location is great and it’s really handy having the parking, which is essential for us. Had lovely views from both the front and rear of the house. Comfortable seating and beds with handy built in wardrobes. The bathroom and downstairs loo were clean and roomy. Had a good shower, you go to some holiday cottages and the shower is just a trickle! It’s less than a 10 minute walk to the pub in Ruswarp, which has nice food and a beer garden. It’s lovely and quiet in the evenings. The kitchen is well equipped, handy having a washing machine and dish washer. The only slight negatives I would say is they need to clean the upstairs balcony, the wood is green and is slippy and get some better seating up there, the metal seats are peeling and the feet are too narrow for the wooden slats, we didn’t use it at all. Also a latch on that door as if you are sleeping in that room you either have to have the door shut or all the way open. Also in that room we had a huge king size winter duvet in a double duvet cover, it was so lumpy and uncomfortable and had to buy ourselves a blanket to use as it wasn’t fit for purpose. They also need to buy a wooden spoon, very difficult to cook with the flimsy plastic utensils. We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the location to others. .

  We had a lovely stay in Whitby and the property has lots of potential.

  View is great and Whitby wonderful as ever. However we had a few problems: - Property is advertised as having 2 off road parking spaces. This wasn't the case and we had to park both cars 100m away out of sight. - There were 5 visitors in our group, but only 3 towels supplied. - No hair dryer. - We tried to contact the owner (particularly re parking) on the first day, but didn't get any response so we gave up and bought new towels ourselves. Otherwise, the setting and fit out of the property was good. Could benefit from black out blinds for some (as quite bright in the morning in bedrooms, but that was fine for us).

  Just had a lovely holiday at Cricket COTTAGE very very well equipped took us a while to work out electric oven until we found instructions inside a cupboard door then we was ok.

  There is a lovely view across the fields from kitchen window and rear patio and views out the front of the viaduct and river plus the Steam Trains so if you want a nice quiet base for a trip to Whitby this is it. It is only 5/6minute drive to town or by taxi costs only £6.00p we did this to go on the Steam Train as parking is difficult costs for parking is about £10.00p for all day at least with the taxi for us it stopped right out-side the station for a lovely day on the NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY a very good day out

  We have just returned from our stay at Grove Cottage which was a wonderful family holiday.

  The cottage was a true home from home experience and It's location next to the viaduct provided wonderful views. All facilities were as described and it really felt like you were staying at a friends holiday home being told to use what you want but just replace if things run out. The owners got in touch a couple of days before we arrived to confirm details and then rang on arrival day to make sure we were ok and had everything we required. Next time we return to Whitby we will certainly look to see if we can get back in.
