What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely cottage.
Hard to find down the lane. May require larger clear sign at entrance. There was a gate closed at the entrance which made us feel it was a private estate. The cottage is in a great location to access all areas of the lakes. The cottage was well equipped had a well equipped kitchen. The bedroom was spacious. The beds were clean and tidy and comfortable. The cottage and bathroom catered for a disable person which was what we required. There was a lovely small path way, walk around the back of the cottages to walk dogs and for children to wander in the meadow. There were just a few issues that need addressing. The back patio doors would not lock and one broken and held with screws. The curtains need more hooks and repair. The TV had a muffled sound so you could not hear.we adjusted it so the sound came out on one speak, which helped slightly. We had a great stay and would return.

As regulars visitors to the Lake district, Buttermere was the best self-catering accommodation so far.
Lovely log burning fire, quality fixtures and fittings, quality cooking utensils and cutlery etc. The space is warm, bright, open and airy and there's plenty of room for 4 guests. The bedrooms were fitted out with good quality bedding and there is lots of storage space. Nice big bathroom with plenty of hot water. Outside there is tables and chairs where you can sit and watch the wildlife. Buttermere is surrounded by quiet countryside just a short drive from the Lake District's main attractions. Just a couple of minor areas for improvement. Although the whole place was spotless, a few cobwebs on the ceilings and please set the heating to come on, the morning or night before arrival (especially if the forecast is below 0). We don't often return to the same place but we will be returning to Buttermere, sometime in the future. Thanks for a lovely 5 night, relaxing break.

The caravan was lovely nice and clean and comfortable with a lovely leather recliner which really added to the experience for me personally.
some nice welcome touches including a bottle of wine was really appreciated. the broadband advertised wanted to charge you when inputting the code that maybe one for the owners to review but it didnât bother me as have plenty of data on phone. we had our dog with us who loves his caravans and I really appreciate the owners adding a gate at short notice thank you. the location is a fantastic base for Keswick and cockermouth if you want to drive 10 mins. there is nothing on the doorstep at all apart from a local social club but lovely for a nice peaceful escape. Only one potential change would be to see if you ca. put van in a sunnier location in the park as the veranda was shaded bu big hill and trees yet others has the sun all day. There seemed to be spaces and I think a south facing veranda would massively enhance the holiday experience. overall lovely holiday thank you

The brochure tells of lots of things to see around the grounds.
What it fails to say (for a wheelchair user) is that the yard is gravel and the footpaths are very rough earth. The only wheelchair usable space is outside the front of the cottage. The brochure tells of the âstate of the artâ underfloor heating. It might me âstate of the artâ but it doesnât mention the uneven stone floors, making them a trip hazard, or the fact that when you alter the heat setting, on the thermostat, it takes 24hours to change the temperature. The kitchen area is far from being wheelchair accessible in that the sink, cooker, microwave oven, fridge are all far too high to operate. There are no instructions for operating the wood burning stove, which is recommended to be used to supplement the âstate of the artâ heating system.

The caravan was clean and tidy but did find a couple of things wrong.
The radiator in the kitchen was hit and miss, some of the utensils on the counter didn't feel clean so had to wash what we were going to use. Not sure if the heating goes off at night because it was quite cold. The fire made it cost enough in the living room. The main issue was the beds as the main bed was very uncomfortable and felt lumpy when laid on it. Ok for my mum as she is slight of frame, so had to buy a blow up and sleep in the living room. The twin beds were only really big enough for a child not an adult so couldn't sleep on them. Due to bed issues and the constant rain we cut our holiday short and came home a day earlier. I only booked this because the reviews on bed comfort was good but unfortunately it wasn't for me.
