What our customers say about their holidays
Jamie - Verified booking
Although the location of this property is fantastic, we do not recommend it as somewhere to stay on holiday.
Poorly equipped with miss-matched cutlery, few plates, bowls, mugs etc. just enough for the amount of people which isnât great! Most importantly no blind or curtain on widow in the double bedroom upstairs- the neighbours over the road could literally watch us sleeping (it is a velux window that is below the height of the over road neighbours bedroom so they can literally look down into the room)!!!! Not to mention having nothing to block the light when we were trying to sleep! The upstairs shower is duct taped to the floor so very wobbly and the downstairs shower leaks into the hallway to a huge extent and as it is tiled flooring makes a huge safety issue- our children slipped a couple of times despite us mopping after every shower. The double bed upstairs is also very uncomfortable and lumpy! The owners clearly do not care about the property or about the comfort of the people staying there, itâs a shame as the layout is great and lovely location. Also the property was not in a clean state when we arrived. There was so so much dog hair from previous stays- there were literally hair balls in the corners of the living room and we had to retrieve a toy from under the sofa- I wish we left it there as it was covered in dust and hair! There was cutlery in the draw that still had oil and what we think was honey on so we then had to wash everything to make sure it was clean enough to use. Sorry, we cannot recommend this property and hope Sykes contact the owner regarding the lack of privacy/ blinds in the double room upstairs as well as the safety issues regarding both showers.

A lovely little cottage, perfect if you have a dog.
The back of the property is enclosed and there is a nice little walk in the woods which is part of the property. It's a lovely walk around Deanscale too! The Cottage at Graysondale Farm is always booked up so it's popular. Therefore, there will be a quick turn around between guests departing and new arrivals. A little more attention is needed for high dusting but that's probably our standards. This is NOT a criticism and overall the cottage is spotless. We miss having a washing machine when we book self catering, however the owner does offer a laundry service and the current charge of £5. We didn't use this service bit it's handy to know it's there!. There is everything you need really to make it feel like home. Sarah the host was so welcoming, genuine, warm and kind. It's about a 10 min drive to Cockermouth which has a few supermarkets so it's good to be able to stock up for the week!. Cockermouth is a great little market town and there are some nice walks along the river. Keswick is about 13 miles away. The A591 route is the main road around The Lakes and probably one of the most stunning in the UK as it leads you to Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere. It's your gateway to explore everywhere in this stunning place!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage between Christmas and New Year.
The owner greeted us on arrival, sharing all check in info with us and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was lovely and cosy and was very clean. It had all the facilities we needed for our stay and we didnât have to ask the owner for anything, as everything was provided, including a bottle of fizz and chocolates on arrival, which was a nice touch. However, if we did need anything extra, the owners were always on hand next door. The cottage was completely dog friendly with dog treats, towels and other dog essentials provided. Good free wifi too. Our two children (4 and 2) loved the bunk beds and the outside space was fantastic. Swings, climbing frame with slide and an amazing woodland with all sorts of little additions for the children to find on their woodland hunts. Our dog loved running around the woodland too. Location was not too far and easily accessible by car to Keswick and other parts of the Lakes. Nearby Cockermouth has plenty of shops for food etc. We honestly could not fault our stay and would definitely recommend. Thank you to the owners for a lovely stay, we will definitely return

Property was lovely and spacious very modern an felt homely.
It was a lovely village to stay in. We did find the oven /microwave and fridge not very clean. The shower in the downstairs bathroom when using the top shower head causes the water to go out under the door into the hallway. In the kitchen there was little cutlery 4 forks and 1 dessert spoon between 6 of us. The patio door (left side) key when used to unlock had snapped. Being a dog owner I found it surprising there were no gate/fence around the property to keep the dog in. A blind in the upstairs double bedroom would also benefit from a blind in the velux window. Also had trouble connecting to the WIFI password was incorrect when enter from the back of the router and there were a couple passwords written in the comment book which we struggled to read if some where capital letters/numbers. We tried to call mobile number thats was left which was not recognised. I think if these little things were addressed it would have been a more pleasurable stay.

Fantastic winter stay!
The cottage itself is really well equipped, super clean and warm for when itâs cold outside! The grounds are lovely, we all (2 kids, 2adults and 2dogs) enjoyed the woodland and the kids had lots of fun on the play area. Very dog friendly. There were a couple of bits of the woodland we didnât get to try this time due to time constraints- the bbq hut and the fire pit but we would definitely like to try those next time we visit! Host Sarah was amazing, really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Some really nice touches like a bottle of wine chilled and waiting, biscuits and a pint of milk, we also really appreciated the extra blankets around the cottage, we didnât need them for warmth but they just added an extra touch of coziness after a day out walking. We really liked the area- lots to do locally and within a short drive. Next time we visit the lakes weâll be looking to book here again! Thanks Sarah!
