What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely cottage in a superb location.
Very comfortable and extremely well appointed. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the guest folder very useful. We had a great holiday. Wasn't sure what to recycle and where as recycling varies so much across the country. Perhaps a note in the folder would help. We came into Hawes from Hardraw due to an A684 diversion and I wasn't entirely sure where the property and access was. Perhaps a little more explanation in the joining instructions to identify the access to the rear of the property between the cottages and the sheds. Tried to get hold of the housekeeper to get advice on the recycling but the phone went to voicemail and the calls were not returned. Eventually managed it via a text as he's was away for a couple of days but. might be useful if that number could be transferred in the event of any major problem. I noticed that the lead flashing above the right hand side of the sitting room bay window had slipped forward. I suspect that if left, there will be the possibility of water ingress and damage. Thank you for a lovely time. You may only wish to publish the first section of this feed back as the rest is advice for the owners.

Overall we enjoyed our holiday in 1, Rose Cottage, Hawes, especially the position of the cottage which was close to all amenities in Hawes, and yet looking out to the Dales at the back and very quiet and peaceful. Access to walks was very good. We had one or two small issues which might help for you to know about, but did not want to post on a review or in the visitors' book which might put other people off booking. The main one was the bath with drench shower over: though very nice-looking, it was impractical, especially for older people. It was not easy to prevent water splashing over, with the controls positioned outside the shower curtain (which was not very nice to use in itself as it clung round you if you had it properly sealed). A hand-held shower attachment included would be better than the simple drench shower above. There was no handle for climbing in and out. There was no towel rail or hooks apart from hooks over the door which those 5' 2" and under could not reach at all! If these issues were addressed, the cottage would be rated very good. In addition the neighbours were very friendly. Thank you

An amazing gem of a property.
Beautiful cottage in an amazing part of the world- we were a family of 5 plus our pooch and so many things to see and do in the area we didnât move our car for 3 days. The house had everything you could possibly need, the owners had obviously taken a lot of time to think about supporting families, including lots of games, and dog friendly too. The little welcome pack was so nice after a long journey. The view from the living room was everyoneâs favourite (including our dog) and there was a rush in a morning to get âthe chairâ before anyone else to watch the lambs each day. Only small tip is parking is a short walk away, about a minute, but you can pull up outside to unload- this proved very tricky when thereâs a car parked next door in driving back out. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone with a family who wants a relaxing time away in the Dales. We hope to be back soon. Thank you for letting us stay!

The cottage was absolutely lovely, and we had a great stay!
The cottage was gorgeous, well decorated and altogether a great space in a wonderful location. Lovely walks in all directions-- we'll definitely be coming back! The only snag was the lack of teabags/any kind of small welcome pack when we got there. Even just three teabags/a pint of milk would have been amazing, as when we got there the shops were closed in Hawes, and my goodness a cup of tea makes things better after a long journey! It was particularly galling as the tea tin and coffee and sugar tins were so prominently displayed! The heartbreak! The other thing which would have made things easier is parking advice in the email with the directions etc.-- it might have been my faulty reading, but we did struggle to work out where we were meant to be parking. Thankfully, a very kind neighbour did tell us where to park. Aside from those minor things, which now we know about we can plan for, the cottage was wonderful!

Great location and loverly neighbour the cottage itself is in need of some maintenance paint etc and some cupboard doors are damaged really would benefit from more cupboard space in general if a family is using it. Loft bedroom has very steep stairs to it and a beam at the top that you easily bang your head on I would not recommend that room for an elderly person or anyone with mobility problems. The floor in the kitchen is laid with large stone and is quite uneven and provides a trip hazard especially around the hob area which is quite dangerous. There is a large open drain outside that needs a cover. The fantastic views from the rear of the cottage would benefit from somewhere decent to sit to view them and there is no decent outside furniture except a rotting bench. Despite the above we had a great stay and the improvements would only enhance the lovely location
