What our customers say about their holidays

We loved our stay at Hartswood farm!
I was quite skeptic to book the place as there were not many reviews published and none recently, but the place was lovely! Exactly as pictured and described, and we were welcomed with fresh eggs, milk and cake which was very sweet and generous. The pool was a beautiful and relaxing addition, and the goats also deserve a shout out. The hosts were responsive to any queries and we tried 2 pubs in the area that were recommended in the handbook and they were lovely and both dog friendly. Our only criticisms and things to note is that the stairs up to the apartment can get quite tiring after a while, especially for our elderly dog and they can be quite slippery in the rain so probably not best for anyone with mobility issues, but they are well advertised in the property listing so this is merely just an observation! The TV is rather old and quite grainy, and the remote was terribly temperamental so an update would be beneficial but the dvd player and selection of movies available to borrow downstairs is a lovely touch. Sofas were also a bit hard and positioned a little strange for the TV so were quite uncomfortable. Bedding was also quite large for the quilts which was a little irritating as they were either tucked under the mattress or super long and hitting the floor. Finally, and this may just be me, but I did find the bedrooms rather eerie, especially the twin room with the large alcove space to the right side of the beds. Perhaps a lighter, brighter colour may improve the atmosphere of those two rooms. Overall though, our stay was lovely, relaxing, clean and dog friendly and we would happily come back. Weâve already recommended the place to our friends and family

Adorable little cottage with large well maintained garden which was ideal for our dog to wander in.
Upon our arrival we was met with a lovely welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of wine. Fresh milk had been left in the fridge and everywhere was immaculate. Gary (owner) is lovely and made sure we was happy and settled. The location of this property is perfect for lots of activities⦠We had a day at Dalby Forest which was a half hour drive, Filey beach around the same and a couple of local walks just 10 mins away. Cedar barn farm shop was worth the visit, itâs pricey but fabulous quality produce. Also worth a mention is the local chippy - delicious fish and chips cooked traditionally in beef dripping. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you Carl & Lisa

Thanks for a lovely holiday .
The cottage is gorgeous, tastefully decorated and well laid out . Spotlessly clean and well maintained . My wife is disabled and managed to get around easily on crutches and uses a shower chair which was provided . The welcome tray was a nice touch and very gratefully received . Lovely surroundings and a nice garden to sit out in . Everything you could ever need was provided . Bed nice and comfortable, slept well all week . One of the best accommodation we have ever stayed in . Will definitely be coming back . Great area to stay in , Scarborough and surrounding coast only a 20 min drive away ,Malton about 6 mins , Pickering about 15 mins . Thanks Gary , see you next year .

Hartswood east is a wonderful place to stay just far enough off the main road to feel secluded but close to lots of interesting places.
The accommodation was exceptionally clean and very well appointed. Just need to be careful to not bang your head in the bedrooms as the ceilings are very quirky. Our apartment led straight down to a lovely swimming pool which was an added bonus. This place has only just been taken over by new owners so we were asked for any suggestions for improvements which was nice .. eugene was very attentive when we arrived but didnât see him for the rest of the week didnât meet Lucy although she sounded very nice on the phone .. Would highly recommend to anyone who wishes to have a relaxing holiday with a homely feel .

A wonderfully relaxing break in the quiet village of Swinton in the Howardian Hills.
Stayed here for two weeks as refugees from a kitchen refit and enjoyed it immensely. Rob & Claire were perfect hosts and gave us several useful tips on enjoying the area. The Bothy is a comfortable barn conversion style cottage, smart, comfortable, well equipped and easy to stay in. We had our dog with us and she enjoyed it too, making good friends with Rob & Claires Spaniel. Highly recommend this place for the lovely area ( Castle Howard & Ampleforth nearby & East Coast only 20 mins away with the North York Moors on the doorstep) and the peace and quiet. We would certainly come back here again.
