What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed at 8 Woodlands.
There was space for one car towards the front of the lodge due to leaving space for the lodge to the back of 8 Woodlands. Enough space though so all was ok. The lodge had everything in terms of cutlery, plates, pans, trays and bin bags. Was a very nice touch to have some coffee, tea and milk sachets on arrival along with washing up liquid, tea towel and toilet roll. Plenty of towels were provided for our weeks stay. We were impressed with the lodge itself and the grounds. Close to the lake for a morning stroll with the dog which was just over the main road at the bottom. Everything else was a driveable distance, 15 mins to Coniston, 30 mins to Bowness or Ambleside. The only downfall was the main bed. One side dipped making it uncomfortable to the point of feeling you were to fall out of bed when turning over. Wasn't great for the back really however I survived and made do. All in all loved our holiday and would stay again but a different lodge due to the bed

The location of Corn Cottage is perfect.
The walks from the doorstep are plentiful and fabulous. There is parking for one vehicle on the property, with more at the roadside. The cottage was presentable, however, the toaster didnât work and the owners were notified and happy to replace, but we used the grill in the oven. The dishwasher worked once and the wash cycle was poor. Again, the owners were notified. This would explain the dirty teacups and pans that on our arrival we had to wash by hand. That said, lots of hot water and the owners kindly provided plenty of logs at no extra cost. I am sure that the issues we had can be easily addressed by the owners.

The cottage is finished to a very good standard, great location, very rural.
It is a working farm so I'd recommend ear plugs if your'e a light sleeper. There are many walks right on your doorstep which give stunning views across the mountains. Jo was really helpful during our stay and was just at the end of the phone if we needed anything. Unfortunately due to covid restrictons we weren't able to frequent many of the local shops, pubs and restaurants but hopefully when we get to go back again we will check them all out. We would thoroughly recommend staying here as it's such a lovely area to stay and the hosts were very accomodating. Thanks :-)

Beautiful cottage, very cosy and clean.
It has all necessary bits of equipment in the kitchen if you want to do a bit of cooking. There is a comfy sofa to sit on and a fire place in the lounge! The owners are very friendly and helpful! There is a lovely bakery called Born and Bread in the nearby village Greenodd where you can get amazing cakes, pastries and sourdough bread. The cottage is well located and close to the south lakes, approx 15 minutes drive to lake Coniston, it took as about 1 hour to get to Glenridding and just over an hour to the north lakes if you want to do some hiking.

The property was of a good standard and met a lot of our requirements.
However, when it rained overnight, there was a significant constant drip onto the main bedroom window sill, probably due to the guttering. I also think that the mattress of the bed was probably a bit shot it was very soft and when getting onto the bed significant spring flexing. As an improvement option a corner settee for 4 people would be better rather than the 3 seater sofa & separate chair. In summary, we enjoyed our stay and would probably return, as the location was perfect for a peaceful holiday. A few tweaks would improve the lodge.
