What our customers say about their holidays

The facilities were generally good.
The outdoor space in the back was a lovely feature. But, a 'games room' was highlighted in the features of this place but it really fell well below expectations: it was on the lower basement floor, accessed through a 'work area', the ceilings were covered in cobwebs, it was damp and didn't feel comfortable for any of us. The pool table was old and not well-maintained (the cloth was stained and the balls rolled onto the floor when dropped through the pockets). Another issue we had to contend with was the inability to access the internet, either through wi-fi or mobile data; even something as basic as a phone signal was rarely available in the house. I know it's a holiday and it's great to have a break from modern tech but, when trying to research local activities or features, it is pretty useful to have some means of connecting to the internet. The location of the house was great, in a village that had a lovely bakery, a convenience shop, butcher and several pubs serving excellent food.

This cottage is truely stunning, the views are amazing and the interior has been so tastefully decorated.
Beds super comfy, just being tall the low ceilings werent ideal but its a cottage so thats part of charm. Fresh eggs just outside to buy and off road parking a bonus. Only issues for us was water pressure disappeared on 3rd day, the location is just so remote so having to drives miles for any kind of shop or bigger village town was very annoying. Roads are deadly single tracks for miles and miles. Also would be good to have or pay for a welcome pack (had this in other cottages) as no milk etc after travelling hours to then drive 9 miles to get milk was not good. Lastly a small welcome note to list cottage owner numbers and local recommendations is always a nice touch. Local village pub was lovely but just again super pricey! No signal for phones which yes is nice but we had a child on holiday and a sick relative so couldnt call or text anyone but thats just maybe us being too used to convience. The cottage and hot tub views 10/10.

Was advertised as having a games room, this in fact is not true.
The pool table has now been moved from a nice cosy room into the cellar which is not really that clean, my wife was looking forward to spending some time with me and my friend while we had a game but didnât feel able to do this as it was horrible in the cellar, adding to this the pool table is stained, torn and broken with pieces of log inside the mechanism instead of the ball feeding through, in short it is broken. However on a plus note the cottage itself was beautiful and in a lovely area, the garden was fabulous and the dogs loved it. Another note of concern is the fact that the bed was extremely uncomfortable and you could feel every spring in the mattress. The fire place was magnificent. If you require an internet connection there is no WiFi in this cottage so be warned. With a few tweaks like moving the pool table upstairs and fixing it and getting new mattresses this cottage would be a gem.

This property is outstanding!
10/10! It is fitted out with everything you need for your stay. Rooms are amazing, I cannot fault it at all. Felt home from home. Family bathroom is huge. Lovely patio area out back with furniture. When we arrived it had been all decorated for Christmas. Would highly recommend and we will stay again at some point! We are regulars to broughton as our daughter lives near to the cottage and we are fortunate we get to stay at her home but this time we needed a place to stay due to family occasion and I had noticed how beautiful this place looked walking and driving past and it really is! 2 Pubs close by to walk to, (one offering food) free parking on square, butchers, food shop, post office, bakers antique shop, information centre, petrol station and foxfield station not far away.

Our family enjoyed a fabulous stay at Hillside.
The property and its location was perfect for our Easter break - with so much to see and do from the doorstep. We loved the pretty enclosed garden space, and used the bench for lunches in the garden. The property had plenty of space and had everything we needed during our stay. The open fire place was so cosy on an evening and we felt the whole property was clean, relaxing and homely. We didn't mind the lack of WiFi - this wasn't an issue at all. The local walks were beautiful. Our young children loved exploring the ponds and fields. The pubs in the square were so friendly, and served excellent food and drink. Would recommend Hillside to everyone - especially those with children. Thank you very much!
